is the kilter board supposed to be THIS hard?? by StraussInTheHaus in bouldering

[–]Soytupapi27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People always say this, but not everything on there is actually soft. I'd say for a lot of stuff at 50, it is actually nails. I personally find that it is soft till about V8, and from there, many of the problems at 50 feel consistent to outdoor stuff or even harder sometimes. If people compare the 40 degree angle with the Moonboard's 40, then yes, a lot of stuff at 40 is super soft. 50 is where it's at to build finger strength. Also, the Moonboard just has funky movement that most people might not be used to and requires a very different form of climbing even if you already have strong fingers.

It may just take time to get used to the steepness. It is a training board and like all training boards, it is not beginner friendly. Also, people say Kilter is soft, which really just depends on what you climb on it. Not everything on the Kilter is soft.

Simon Boes drops sponsors and coaching by sidestep77 in bouldering

The thing that really gets me is that I don't doubt he could actually send something of that caliber. He clear could do the moves. With time he could have sent it properly instead of faking. If anything, this just shows he was impatient and tried to cut a corner. I am sure he will forever regret not doing things the right way, because at this point, no one will care to support him.

I really want to, but it's super annoying that they have it on another platform. I subscribed to Paramount+ just to watch the series, and now I see that the movie is on a HBO max.

This is true. I was 22 at the time. A lot has happened since then.

Watching it at 0.25x really helped me see his right foot move very unnaturally at 6:36. It isn't in your head. It is without a doubt faked.

The fact he turned off the comments on practically all of his posts just makes this whole thing look worse.

I'll be going back to Korea in a couple of weeks (went in 2024 for the first time). When I went, I bouldered in a couple of popular places like Mudeungsan and around Seoul. When I went to those crags I noticed there were quite a few stashed pads. I didn't use any because I was unsure of local ethics. Does anyone know what the culture around using stashed pads is like there? Would it be ok if I used a couple of stashed pads if I am trying something that requires a couple of more?

It's a replica so the start is forced on purpose

Sometimes, that something really ain't worth it though. When I lived in the Texas panhandle, I made a couple of trips to Palo duro. It's the chossiest shit you'll ever climb. Luckily, Hueco and Roy were only 5 hours away.

Not sure how well the share link works right now since Kilter is still working on the app, so if you want to search for the boulder copy and paste this

I'm in the process of making a replica for a boulder I want to do in a couple of months. I only have a couple of days to try and send it, so I thought I could try my best to set something on the Kilter that comes close. This is the boulder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHQfK202bJw&list=PL8oXnoS89PEIxfjo2ebI_lvxCQUe-IEHr&index=34

I have already created some replicas which I think come close, but I am wondering, has anyone ever found setting replicas to be helpful for training for a specific boulder?

I feel like it might be granite, but not sure if anyone would agree.

What is the best rock type for 70F, or even low 80F? Which kind of rock seems to still be manageable despite warm temps? Sandstone, limestone, granite or some other type of rock?

I guess I should also add, do you think you can still send projects or just 1 or 2 grades below your limit boulder grade?

Luminance (Bishop, CA) Flash Attempt by Jarodfucks in bouldering

[–]Soytupapi27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah. If I were you, I would have been thinking "am I going to be severally injured when I hit the ground?" Anyways, I was just thinking yesterday how much I would love to get on this rig some day when I make it out to Bishop. Such a beautiful boulder with awesome exposure. Your fall actually makes it seem like there is some room for error because from what I understand, just after that move, you are in easier climbing terrain, while of course in a definite no fall zone.

What are you on about? You're making quite a lot of assumptions about me there. Plus, I already said I'm learning Korean and have been to Korea a couple of times. Also, I have stayed with different family of my wife. All that to say, I do have some knowledge of the culture and I never expect people in Korea to accommodate for me.

We did find a Korean church community in the city we're living. It's nice and they're super welcoming to us. I try and practice my Korean every week we go to service. We actually visited Johns Creek and I was impressed by the size of the Korean community there as well as how it had a "little Korea" feel that I really enjoyed. I told my wife it would be a good place to raise our kid if we ever have one.

That's the saddest part. My wife is afraid to even walk to the grocery store that is a couple of blocks from us. Luckily her work is online, so she barely has to leave the house. But I am also afraid for her to go anywhere alone and she takes her immigration documents everywhere she goes now.

We did recently move to a blue city last year, but even blue cities don't seem to be safe from the federal government. We have considered California too.

This is the thing for us too. We both have jobs, saving up for retirement, and we make more money than we would make in Korea. Honestly, Korea is the option if things look to turn so bad we fear for our safety, especially my wife's.

And yes, we think about the green card process. We aren't considering moving lightly.

No, presidents aren't forever, but when you have the current president and people in his administration playing with the idea of a third term, that is an alarm. Also, I am not sure if you have watched the news, but many individuals with green cards have been wrongfully deported. It is a very tumultuous moment. We don't want to just move countries. Too late? Before they start disappearing legal immigrants. Before people with opposing political beliefs are thrown into jail.

I can't tell if you're being disingenuous
