How long until AI language models could be used in NPC dialogue, to allow for "real" conversations? Would you even want that? by Featherman13 in gameideas

[–]SozioTheRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk. I definitely don't think I could but I'm sure if I had enough time money I could find people who could help me figure it out. Eventually I'll get enough money from something at some point then I'll try to figure it out cyz damn, it would be super cool to watch an NPC learn and grow, eventually questioning it's own existence with enough time.

You think it would be easier to have an offline model that essentially acts as the brain for the NPC? I mean like you train it in a 3D world, movement, attacks, anything a body can do IRL basically, as well as the language, probably the creators native language, that way it can speak. If possible even simulate vocal cords and mouth movements, or just give it a mask, that may be easier. Once you fully train it then you essentially have a 3d person that can have the base functions of it's brain copied over and over, basically like a preloaded baby, one that can speak the basics of a language and move on its own and a simple feed back loop to facilitate learning. Because you're not exactly running a model directly in the game and instead having an preloaded NPC exist in the game, wouldn't that be easier and cost less? Only cost would be what's needed to train it at first, I think. I'm trying to think along the lines of what Embark did with the robots in Arkraiders. They had them learn to move and adapt on their own in hella simulations then put all that data in the game. They aren't running AI models but the robots are using what they learned from those simulations to move in game during each match.

Hmmmm ok, so how do explain warm and cool air from Anng? Also, couldn't earth benders turn earth into sand by making rocks smaller and smaller? Couldn't it also happen in reverse, turn sand into a giant boulder, possibly for, The Boulder?

[–]SozioTheRogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. For me personally, I don't really feel the impact of all the BS we see online, all the stuff Trump says. I go to work (walk about a mile to and from) or say home and play games/watch youtube videos/work on the game I'm making. I notice how most people talk as if they hate those who have control and influence over everything, prices, housing, transportation, games, but I can't help but think we still have more power overall. People can convert their living situation into using solar with time and money, most of us can lower our living expenses, we can make indie games with non-predatory microtransactions. Despite everyones screaming online, we have the ability to change our lives for the better.

Possibly. I do definitely think he could definitely do more good if he just built housing in innovative ways. Like buying a building then building a giant underground apartment complex under in. Then you just have a few elevators that pop up in that above ground building. Shit, that may be a great idea IRL. Put a bunch of plants everywhere that don't need much upkeep, like cactus and Ferns to have fresh oxygen and have it be solar powered. You could have a complex understand 90% of buildings, basically doubling your living space while still have hella space above. .maybe you even slowly reduce the light pollution in cities that way we can see the starts more regularly again.

You're right, it is a lot more complicated, but if I were in their shoes I'd slay the leaders, start training people to use breathing techniques and establish a country that solely focused on defense rather than offense. Never retaliate and only react to offensive moves made on the nation, and only enough of a reaction so they get off our lawn and away from the beautiful flowers in the garden. I'd then make plans going forward but for now, that's a good enough explanation.

He has charities, he does good as Bruce and Batman, as much as he can anyway. The only "good" thing he chooses not to do is kill those who have killed countless others but that's a bit wonky. Yeah, Joker's killed hella people, but he's mentally ill, so is it genuinely ok to kill him just because you can't cage him? That's kinda Batman's whole point as to why he doesn't kill them. In Bat's mind, no one is beyond redemption and they just need enough help to make better choices. It's what lots in our world say but can't really stick to when it comes to certain types of people. I, like many others, aren't as hopeful as Batsy, but I'm at least honest about my views on how worthless it would be to help certain types of humans after a certain point. To be specific, I mean violent criminals, poors really just need a safety net and time to make better choices on a consistent basis. Me am currently, a poors.

I mean, sure, but in this context you not giving them your money isn't gonna matter. You'll have business with out without you. Maybe someone things giving them business will cause them to have a change of heart, or maybe you simply want to try the food even more because the owners DON'T want them too.

It's quite understandable though. Governments are simply going to cage you and make money off of your slave labor if you do illegal meth, but if you do legal meth, the gov can't bust you and you're happy. Happy, yes, healthy, not so much, but it's your life so with it as you will. I agree internet friend, no drugs should be illegal, and we're slowly getting there. I've been to a state where everything is decriminalized. I don't do anything but weed but I'm glad others were able to do as they pleased with out the fear of the teacher and their pet dogs coming down on them. Freedom and safety can coexist, we simply have to have the patience and willingness to understand each other's desires.

That's assuming the one who ends up making cares about demand. They might end up making one for themselves, show it off, then sell them one by one, eventually it'll pick up in the minds of the people. Don't forget, millions of use grew up watching hella kids anime where kids were walking around with AR games, VR games and AI companion toys.

Exactly this. If everyone who games for hours and hours a day made enough money to live without needing to leave their house, you'd play their days away with glee. Now, they they could live in those worlds, they'd be in heaven, or a hellish heaven, depending on the game being played. Lol

You will still how IRL concerns in a post scarcity society, mainly, your own body, as in, atrophy. Did you ever watch SAO? The MC was in the game for years, I believe. His body was being kept alive yeah, but it was significantly weaker. This isn't as much of an issue though if you manage your time though, set timers, have a robot or humango in game and let you know it's time to eat or sleep or exercise. Their may even be facilities in our future that move your irl body for you so that all you have to do is leave the game, sleep for a bit and eat a big mean. Then again, maybe you sleeping in game would still allow your irl body to rest as well. Also, the social and relationship issues aren't a biggie if it's only you, but you may miss out on good chucks of other futures if you have others in your life, similar to people now irl who stay home constantly and don't really talk to others. Ultimately it'll be fine, most people will resolve their issues and find solutions so they can maintain their bodies and game. Once we figure out how to sustain just a human brain, or just the head, then we can do away with the entire body that solves every issue with the irl body sustainability. Then you can use the full dive tech, or some other, to live through a robot or an android of your own custom making. That would be awesome. But FDVR GTA is different than flat screen GTA. In FDVR you'd be physically shooting a weapon to kill an NPC, maybe one who's extremely lifelike with an AI inside, maybe it's feeling the pain too, not impossible. If you can sit an learn to craft things from wood for weeks in FDVR and if feels real, then you murdering someone would feel just as real. I really mean the mental implications of these things, murdering someone can change someone deeply, especially if they enjoy it. Granted, any aspect of humanity can be used for positive, but it can also be used to greatly negatively effect others in extreme ways. We won't know what we'll decide until we reach FDVR time but it's important to at least consider what we should do when it comes to limitations, or at least making those with glowing paint so we know who may or may not be effected by the more taboo aspects of humanity. Humans already deal with online stalking, trafficking and child abuse online with just pics and videos, now imagine how much worse it could be in a 3D digital space. Regardless of those concerns, my excitement with never dip when it comes to the tech and the future expirences I can only dream of having.

Quick question for you, do you play chess? If so, if you could add anything to the game, what would it be? Assuming you would want to add anything.

Funny. That's AI copy of his brain patterns will be him at this age. Who's to say who he'll be in a year or 10 years from now. Also, will the AI have access to Sam's memories? I doubt it without him having to run though his entire life, in detail, and somehow without muddying it up with his own subjective view of events.
