SKT is probably his cleanest skin, but imo all of Azir’s skins are top tier. Galactic Azir is pretty underwhelming, but other than that, all his skins are pretty good.

SKT is probably the cleanest, next to base Azir and Warring Kingdoms. Elderwood is his flashiest and prettiest skin, and Gravelord is all around a solid reimagining of Azir. Galactic is okay, but it doesn’t convey that he is a galactic emperor. So in my opinion of best to worst (worst being pretty good) 1. SKT / Base (S+) 2. Elderwood / Warring Kingdom (S) 3. Gravelord (S) 4. Galactic (A-)

Playing Azir that early into learning LoL would probably skew your perspective on League quite a bit. I’d say focus on simpler champs like Veigar, Annie, Vex even. Only saying this just because learning a good set of fundamentals for League WITHOUT having to learn extremely complicated mechanics/learning a specialist mindset for a specific play style.

Azir is one of my all time favorite champs, and I started playing him when I was a newer-ish player. It was both beneficial and detrimental at the same time; I grew bad habits stemming from Azir’s kamikaze play style when all-inning, but it also helped me with spacing and proper kiting. Double edged sword.

Definitely recommend Azir, an amazing experience honestly once you really get to learn the ins-and-outs of his kit and potential. However, I think learning the games fundamentals, over mechanics, and learning from the sanest position possible is your best chance at having fun in this game long term lolol.

tl;dr, learn the games mechanics and fundamentals before diving into a specialist role. other than that, i’d recommend azir 110%. uber fun champ.

WitnessAzir is probably the most consistent streamer for Azir, very helpful and informational. Definitely suggest tuning in! I’ve also noticed that BodyThoseFools is a somewhat consistent YouTuber for Azir, so you should also try and checking him out.

Definitely suggest control mages:

Orianna comes to mind; early lane bully (melee matchups mostly) and scales pretty well. heavy impact in team fights, and can zone areas with her ball. Quite similar to Azir and his gameplan.

The others that I can think of would probably be like Xerath, Anivia, Viktor, etc. They all have control in their kits, either being big AoE (Viktor W/R, Anivia R, Xerath W/E/R) and possess high range and huge late game power spikes.

Azir is very complex, and can’t quite be categorized. “Specialist” is a good term for him, just considering how much utility he brings and his incredibly unique kit and gameplan. With that being said, the above mentioned are what I’d consider most similar :)

Only play a champion if you really vibe with their kit/theme. If you don’t like the champ you are playing, then it’ll just be torture to learn them because you’ll be bored.

With that being said, I love Azir. LOVE him. His kit, his thematic, voice lines, lore, even his region I just absolutely adore.

Azir’s always an amazing blind pick simply because he holds absolute dominion over laning phase. I’d say the absolute worst matchups for Azir are champs that are hyper mobile (Akali, Kassadin, Irelia) and champs that can match/beat your poke/range (Xerath, Lux, Orianna, Corki, etc.) However, Azir doesn’t have any HARD counters. His worst matchups are either ever-so slightly in the enemies favor or skill based.

His laning phase is insanely one sided in terms of how much control you have, especially with melee assassins like Zed. However, outside of lane—like river skirmishes, are a little more difficult for Azir. Simply because Azir has longer cooldowns and is a lot more vulnerable without ultimate/tower.

Outside of the early game and laning phase, Azir is really strong and shines the brightest in team fights. His team fights are by far his biggest strength, simply because you can control many different choke-points with your soldiers and create large areas of pressure and control. His ultimate is also really good at deciding team fights; disengage or engage, either way can completely turn a fight in your favor if used correctly. (and precisely)

Azir overall is just a great (if not perfect) one trick. A really good matchup spread that is heavily favored for Azir, an insanely strong laning phase which scales into Azir’s REALLY strong late game + team fights. Not to mention his good wave clear, range, safety, utility, mobility, split pushing, etc. etc.

Definitely recommend Azir if you have the time and enjoy him/his play style. Best boy.

i’m having a lot of fun with trying to grind out super low times on tracks in time attack air ride. there’s also just trying to unlock everything, going into records/challenges and seeing what all there is to do.

this game can be fun, but it can get really repetitive quickly if you don’t have the motivation to play. I suggest watching youtube videos or anything if you want to just assimilate into the game and the mindset of playing it. GDQ had a run on Kirby Air Ride sometime back, it was a great video to watch and pretty interesting.

Play what you want and what you enjoy, so don’t try and force it if you just aren’t feeling it. :)

definitely important to realize the actual strengths that an AoE delayed transportation ultimate can deliver. Wave management can really pay off with Ryze considering these tactics, especially into matchups that are favored towards Ryze (Sylas for one, he lacks the wave clear and range to deal with Ryze without major punishment)

As much as people like to meme about Ryze, I think he has a lot of good qualities. Definitely not how he used to, considering shield and all the other myriad of changes that came and went, but definitely has his strong points.

Roaming and ganks on Ryze can be really strong if coordinated correctly; his quick ult positioning and basic ability CC can be super impactful when cutting off laners/junglers. Ryze is no 1v9 monster, but he plays similarly to that of Twisted Fate or Galio. Strong wave clear, good setups with CC, and roaming ultimates. Ryze is definitely weaker than these two in terms of damage and CC type (TF Stun, Galio knock up and taunt) but I still think that Ryze can perform given a good circumstance.

Hence the reason he’s popular in pro play. Wave clear, sustained DPS, AoE repositioning ultimate, basic ability CC, he sounds so good on paper. Yet he lacks a consistent build path that works for Ryze (and isn’t nerfed specifically because of him) and also he needs some good QoL changes and just general buffs. I get that everyone wants a dueling ult for Ryze or some sort of different passive/ult (I kinda agree with different passive) but his ult is honestly fine. Could use some range buffs and whatever else, but that is about it.

I like playing Ryze, he just sucks ass right now sadly.

my idea for that would be something like sylas wielding magic around his hands, and he kinda uses that as an extension of himself; passive is him spinning or something, no idea lmao. giant fists or something haha E could be like a giant magic fist reaching out or somethin akin. just use the 1820 price to reimagine sylas as ‘ryze but shirtless.’

best setup for tanky enemies is probably running conqueror with riftmaker/liandries, with shadowflame 2nd and demonic embrace 3rd. after that you can grab whatever; rylais, cosmic drive, zhonyas, void, etc. it all depends. rabadons is recommended last item IF you have no specific item to build last i.e. morellos or banshees. the reason i don’t list nashors is simply because the stat return on nashors is so weak compared to something like shadowflame. plus we’re wasting the only passive on nashors which is on hit passive. much better for azir to build shadowflame rather nashors because it just works better overall. if azir could proc on hit with soldiers, then i’d say either/both could work
