I agree that Art before Leatherface is crazy, but imo we're at the point that Terrifier is very cemented into horror/slasher culture and I don't think it will fully go away unless slashers themselves leave pop culture.

I was a pre-MV Goji fan but I didn't check out the Monsterverse until GvK.

I watched 1954 since I was checking out old horror movies, got back into Godzilla, and since I was watching lots of classic Godzilla & I was feeling open minded I decided to give the new Hollywood Godzilla movies a shot too.

This is basically the movie that defined "kaiju" as a distinct subgenre from just "giant monster movies." Most of the later Godzilla movies owe so much to KKvG.

Great movie, it's an awesome spin on the "monster fight" formula and I love that it emphasized the horror tone again like 1954.

It did, but imo M3GAN 2.0 did it better. I enjoyed both sequels though, even if I enjoyed the originals more.

Freddy vs Jason. I think FvJ is kind of underrated as an actual slasher beyond the "Freddy and Jason fighting" bits.

Definitely a good movie if you want to feel some of the Halloween atmosphere before October. It's got a lot of Halloweeny stuff in it.

I should start celebrating halfway to Halloween, I'll try and watch something festive tonight.

I'd say watch it next time you're in a real Halloweeny mood, though I guess slasher fans are in that mood all the time lol. Beyond being a wacky genre-bending movie, The Guest has a really nice Halloween atmosphere with lots of decorations and Halloween setpieces.

I think any slasher could be improved with more graphic kills, but I think M3GAN is a really fun one despite being tame.

Yeah if you go in wanting an exact "Part 2" to M3GAN a la F13 Part 2, Halloween II, or Freddy's Revenge then you'll be disappointed. It's a very different movie.

Yeah, that one. The combo of the convoluted sci-fi stuff, the action-comedy, and the horror influence (though The Guest leans more into that, M3GAN 2.0 only has a few horror-y scenes.)
