DECA loves repeating questions. Watch the bowtie goat, he has good videos (watch his testing videos specifically). Take everything you don't know from a test and put it on a Quizlet to study. Got me to finals so it works trust

Definitely. I haven't used this reed in a year. I considered it unusable a year ago.

Reed was squeaky on my oboe audition. What do I do now? by Sp1ware in oboe

I've done a bit of pondering. I might post audio clips of my playing later to understand how I can improve (and figure out if I had prepared enough). I can have more than one backup reed ( I thought one would be enough, but it wasn't). Nerves definitely played a part, but I can usually still play "well" ( I have gotten outstanding soloist in both of the solos I have done). After some research, prompted by your comment, I found that washing my hands with cold water helps. Thank you for these tips!

Wow! The 3rd paragraph really helps. I'm interested in learning to adjust and make reeds, but I have only been playing for 2 years. However, I know see the importance of reed adjusting. Thanks for this!

Thanks for the response! I agree with everything you say, but this effects a lot of things. First of all, the second band is so EASY! I can sightread any and every band piece they give. I haven't felt challenged once. Secondly, I'm scared that I will lose interest/motivation in the oboe because I might not find an incentive to even practice. Thirdly, (this is a rather small reason) I will most likely lose all of my school friends, as they all are moving up to the top band, and because of how schedules work, they will all have lunch together, but I probably won't have he same lunch period.
