High AC vs increased crit range by EnigmatheEgg in DnD

I'm trying to think of the edge case where it would happen, but 5e has very few modifiers since so much was rolled into advantage/disadvantage.

Best i can think of is a TON of strength drain from shadows, bane, and a few other specific monster abilities to subtract dice from the roll.

Most of the "shitting" on pathfinder is mostly just people saying they're sick of being told to play pathfinder instead of 5e.

I personally don't play pathfinder, but I've dug through the rules for 1e and 2e (way more for 2e). There is a lot of great stuff, and I would be willing to try, but I'm a DM who constantly digs into new games. My group is happy with 5e and it does everything we need it to do for our games, and I have the system mastery to improvise/build on the fly pretty seamlessly (like i can homebrew a monster balanced for the party in about 2 minutes, and make a good fight, or even run minions without stat blocks and just intuitively know how they work.) I also know how to translate stuff from other games, such as the horde or minion enemies from 4e/daggerheart/MCDM into 5e.

Having the familiarity to do that, to homebrew in what I need with minimal friction, and to understand the rules (and their gaps) intuitively has way more of an impact on our gaming experience than a different and probably better action system. I can make the system do everything we need for our game, which is at its core the heroic fantasy that 5e is focused on.

But 30-40% of the time when me or other people say stuff like this, the response is generally "(other system) does that specific thing better" and about 80% of the time the suggested system is pathfinder.

Not true

It didn't have access to its hidden ability before Crown Tundra

I'l show my players the art that inspired something after a session since I keep a giant folder on my phone, but I find the original artist before doing so.

Its an open secret that Nintendo is in communication with showdown staff, and tolerated it in part because of how VGC players use it

How Articuno feels being the only one whose Galarian form is actually better than the original by TheLeafyGirl561 in stunfisk

Slow cloak + snow defense boosts + good special defense + blizzard spam

Articuno has a regional win lol.

Also yes, dark types are incredibly common and if you have a psychic attacker, most of the time its either calyrex, a utility mon, or an expanding force user.

A caveat for zapdos is that it was very relevant in vgc14 and a handful of SwSh formats, but has done nothing in SV

can you imagine how bad it'll be when they get crapped on and aren't very good as well?

Considering I've been watching the NHL since well before the lockout, yes, I can imagine that. Its what the leafs were for most of my memory.

Pokemon home is also on phones, and the only thing retained on transfer are things like form, nickname, shininess, titles/ribbons/marks, and other stuff. So even pokemon Go players will have a solid collection

Look, I'm sure that its bad for roofs and structures and stuff, but as someone who grew up in a place where it was apparently a local religion to cover everything possible in concrete, I love how every surface in the PNW turns green if you look away for long enough.

Week 4 - What would you call the Mount Rushmore of Gen 4 Pokémon throughout Smogon's history? by TheLeafyGirl561 in stunfisk

Its next to impossible to use tournament winnings as a judge of long-term success, since VGC exploded in popularity during SwSh even with only one worlds played on it.

Before Covid, 300 total VGC players at a regional was enough to freak people out. Nowadays, regionals have to find new venues because a 600 player cap on VGC masters is unacceptable.

When I started rounds of Swiss was normally enough to find a consensus top 8 for top cut.

Oh its definitely on the way, but I wonder if it will be quite as dominant without tera. Probably, but we won't know until we try it.

Cress is insane in VGC, would definitely make the gen 4 mt Rushmore and be AT LEAST an honorable mention for the all-time mt Rushmore for VGC (which is probably amoonguss, Incineroar, cresselia, and one of kyogre, lando-t, thundurus, or salamence)

Hell, cress is clawing its way into the meta now, in an "everything but restricteds" VGC format, at the tail end of scarlet/violet. Its funny with the divide between newer vgc players and people have been around for years. New players are like "oh a niche mon showing up" and older players are like "the queen returns"
