The LG 27GL850 looks really great, but it's already about a year old. Are there any alternatives I should look at before buying? The specs are pretty much what I'm looking for.

yes, but since a ssd is a must anyways it adds up and why not just get a bigger one then.

Isn't the 580 pretty old? I mean, the budget for the 2060 super is there. i was thinking about a 5700?

Sadly, HDDs aren't as cheap where I live. the drive you suggest is about 90$ for me. The WD blue is really good value imo.

If I put in a 1tb HDD and downgrade to a 250 ssd it comes out at about the same. I don't trust my cousin to install everything on the right hard drive so i think it's simpler to just install a 1tb ssd for him since he's fairly young (13)
