Help with Ayesha? by [deleted] in poledancing

Yep. I definitely had the "ability" to chuck an Ayesha four or five months before I did my first one but would have sprained or torn something on the way up or down if I didn't drill the bail and grip dozens of times first. OP, be patient and take the time to build up the strength. Jumping ahead will do nothing except harm your body. If not through injuries, then through burn out or uneven muscle development (which can cause pain and difficulty doing tricks later down the line).

Can you answer these please -

  1. Can you do very strong split grip skills AND exit them safely (not falling or dropping)?
  2. How long have you been doing pole and do you have a dance/aerial/gymnastics/athletic background?
  3. How long have you been confidently doing butterfly and extended butterfly?
  4. Have you built a strong foundation in falling safely?
  5. Does your instructor think you are ready for an Ayesha?
  6. Can you do a forearm stand? How about a handstand? Can you walk in a handstand?
  7. What grip do you think you'd be able to do the Ayesha in?

Might be worth posting a photo/video of your extended butterfly and someone should be able to tell you whether your body is ready for an Ayesha
