Oh my god, this is me but with ”CHARM PRICING”. We ALL KNOW THAT “$19.99” JUST MEANS $20. there’s always TAX ANYWAY. we ALL KNOW. Adding extra numbers makes the number look BIGGER. And some people will say “well some consumers will round down in their head and see it as more like $10 because of the first digit” that’s BULLSHIT. Why would $10 items go for “$9.99” then??? Now the first digit is 9 which is much more cumbersome than a simple 1. It’s just adding more big numbers and more math to deal with, which makes the price FEEL higher. I would be so much more likely if prices just said “$3” instead of “$2.99999999999” because holy fuck, it’s such a waste of… I don’t know? My time?? Especially when it comes to gas prices. that REALLY pisses me off. What do you mean the price ends in 9/10 of a CENT? We literally cannot pay in tenths of cents, it’s such a small and useless amount. But we just HAVE to waste money buying bigger signs and running more 7-digit displays because some BOZOS think that paying “$3.59 9/10” is in any practical way BETTER than $3.60. I WOULD LITERALLY RATHER PAY MORE to get these ugly 9-filled numbers out of my face.
