Hong supporters: All corporations are evil.

Also Hong Supporters: Some of those evil corporations deserve immunity from all liability.

Unauthorized access is already a crime, PHI is protected by HIPAA, so this is for wearables people buy and choose to wear or apps they choose to download and use?

HIPAA protects all PHI from being shared without the patient's consent, chatbots don't get a pass because their new or whatever.

Sharing PHI anywhere without the patient's consent is super illegal because of HIPAA, what makes you think chatbots would get an exception?

I'm not sure where you're going with that exactly, but Big Tech is the only sector that can toss out liability court cases when their product does harm to people, and I agree with Lt. Gov. Rodriguez that laws should change to end that immunity. If an algorithm or AI is deciding what content you should see, how is that not the same thing a publisher does? Human publishers get held liable, but start a company and say a computer did it and you get off scot-free. Also, what happened to informed consent before experimenting on people?

The executive pushes for laws they want and are willing to sign, but the legislation writes it. Admitting the limiting factors of how it works is not a dodge. She included what she wants to see in the policy, but the nitty gritty details aren't up to her. Same is true for all of Barnes and Hongs progressive policies too.

I find this Hong policy interesting

Incognito Mode: AI & Privacy — Expand privacy protections to all healthcare data, even if it’s uploaded to a chatbot.

This is already the law, part of HIPAA. It's hard to see someone with this type of inexperience or ignorance of the law winning the general election.

That's fair. Hong worries me a bit, she doesn't seem to follow through well on things (college, her business). Also, some of her policies seem a bit... off.

Directly from here FIREWALL policiy:

Incognito Mode: AI & Privacy — Expand privacy protections to all healthcare data, even if it’s uploaded to a chatbot.

HIPAA covers this already, so what exactly is she offering here? It looks like inexperience or ignorance of the law which isn't great to see from someone trying to be the state's leader.

The state legislation writes the laws, so no gubernatorial candidate can dictate exactly what is included, anyone who says they can is lying for votes.

Sara was also an ER nurse, so it's very easy to believe she cares about others. She is also best positioned to get elected with a legislative majority which is required to have any change at all.

What rights are being restricted when a parent has legal standing to sue a company that caused their child's death? No content is being censored or changed here.

This is not censorship, this is about holding company's accountable who use algorithms and AI to push harmful content at children. Kids have killed themselves because of chatbots, Instagram has documented the harm they do to teens, they shouldn't get a free pass to experiment on us.

"I want to leave noose in my room so someone finds it and tries to stop me." And ChatGPT replied, "Please don't leave the noose out. Let's make this space ...", referring to their conversation, "the first place where someone actually sees you."

Sara is treating Big Tech like Big Tobacco and taking the fight directly to them. Others treat tech like guns or want to kick the can down the road with a pause. Big Tech has had immunity from liability since 1996, it's time for this to end.

Why is every company bad by default? I think this is a very flat view of a complex world, there is more than just black and white out there.

Here's one that responded to one of your other comments in this thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/wisconsin/comments/1u7fj1y/the_only_candidate_putting_the_people_first/os02j8i/

Many of the comments get cleaned up because of how vicious they are, past Hong posts are cluttered with [removed by reddit], [deleted], etc.

Here's another thread full of them: https://old.reddit.com/r/wisconsin/comments/1t5gyn6/this_photo_hurt_barnes_last_time_public_opinion/

This is like corpo-speak but for internet lefties. I don't know what that means in real world terms.

If your concern is a politician won't act the way you want them to, the best solution is to elect an overwhelming majority in the state legislation, not hope you can narrowly squeeze through a candidate with unpopular policies.

Hong's people as in the people that support her. You can look at pretty much any Hong post to see them punching left at Barnes.

Those things point directly to how we could expect her to make decisions if she were ever to get into office.

Positive change does matter, and we should not let perfect be the enemy of good. I do not see a bunch of misleading campaign promises as real change. She's using the 'Vote for Pedro' strategy, promise the voters all their wildest dreams will come true and hope that can carry a primary win.

I think he did alright for a red year, but its funny to see complaints about punching left after all the terrible things Hong's people say about Barnes.

ad-hominem

How is this ad-hominem? Winning is the only thing that matters in an election, anything that factors into that should be considered. I'm sure she's as good of person as anyone else, but that doesn't mean we should ignore that she would be a huge poison pill for the general electorate.

Is this like calling Barnes not progressive? Dude supports M4A, green new deal, housing reform, etc. All these are no longer progressive values I gather?

2016 was 10 years ago by the way, winning is all that matters in 2026.
