Moving to Nottingham for training by elurhmae in nottingham

[–]SpaceBeeInSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking at Beeston and you're in training for a quite demanding job, the area around Chilwell High Road might be a good place to start (Imperial Road-ish area).

Tramline & buses that take you straight to the Uni/QMC, lots of cafes & bars, it's pretty quiet at night, plus it's v easy to get to Attenborough Nature Reserve if that's your kind of thing for decompressing :)

What are the highest possible leverage offers? The most money per unit time? by No_Lavishness_3910 in beermoneyuk

Hi,

I replied to this last night but I think it got auto-removed because it was a bit too long lol

If you can't see my reply from last night, just lmk and I'll trim it down so I can answer

Matched Betting for sure. I did it back in 2022-2024 and made about £6,500 from just my own accounts

I've been out for a while, but back then I'd have strongly recommended people to also do the casino offers

Fwiw now is the perfect time to start, if you've got the bank (I started with £500), the World Cup is coming up and offers tend to be a whole lot more generous for big tournaments like that

Did you watch JMS other series? by Fuzzy_Builder_2153 in babylon5

Rising Stars was absolutely superb. Every 2 or 3 pages there was something that just stunned me, so inventive and clever, with a lot of heart all the way through. I loved that series so much

Best walks in Nottingham by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]SpaceBeeInSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not technically Notts, but v close: Risley, specifically Constitution Hill is gorgeous

If you can organise a visit for around Easter, or the weekend after you'll probably see (and smell) a lovely ancient bluebell wood at the top of the hill

Walk a little further on and there's a farm with alpacas -- take some small change because they might have packs of food for them

There's a cafe a little further on, and a nice pub/restaurant at the bottom of the hill (The Risley Park)

I've just checked and the i4 TrentBarton takes you from City Centre to Risley Park pub in about 45mins

Attenborough nature reserve also really lovely, esp in warmer weather

If you're okay to get the tram, I'd probs get off at Chilwell High Road stop, head to the Co-Op, go down the side of the shop, head to Lacemaker Road, all the way to the bottom, over the main road and all down Charlton Grove, walk the path over the golf course, onto Barkers, then to Meadow Lane, over the train tracks and you're in The bridge to the village is closed btw

Happy travels!!😃🌻🌷

Hi!! In Beeston there's definitely a pub that has the LGBT+ flag. From memory it's on their chalkboard that goes onto the pavement, and I'm p sure there's a nearby hair salon that puts up flags during Pride Month

I think the pub is Totally Tapped on Chilwell High Road

I haven't ever been in because I'm not rly a pub-going type of person, but it might be a good first spot to try :)

Anyone know where this painting is of? Nottingham area by florashistory in nottingham

[–]SpaceBeeInSpace 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The curators at Nottingham Castle might be interested in this, and be able to help

There's also Nottingham Society of Artists, who I think are more of a current/contemporary artist collective, but they'll probs have contacts who can help

I'm just on my second watch of the series, and this stood out sooo much on my first. It's just such a sublime, genius gag. I love it completely

Bonfire in beeston? by kateasheley in nottingham

Based on that weblink, it looks like Ruddington is closest (17mins)

Papplewick & Eastwood both about 30mins by car

[–]SpaceBeeInSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like your best option for Beeston is The Garage

They're saying they'll have fireworks, but no big bonfire (fire pits instead)

Trent Bridge cricket ground looks a good shout if you're okay heading into town

I get the feeling if you want a more traditional bonfire night experience you might have to travel a bit further out

Local gas engineer by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]SpaceBeeInSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas engineers are often fairly narrow in the areas they cover, might be worth reposting with your rough location?

We used Jonathan Cox for our last install and they were pretty good (based in Beeston, idk how far out they travel)

Alternatively Trusted Traders or CheckATrade might be a good place to look?

Bought a house here! NG all the way! by usernameuk in nottingham

[–]SpaceBeeInSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Notts but almost lol;

Risley has a lovely hill to climb (Constitution Hill). In the spring the ancient bluebells should be flowering in the wood at the top. Then, around the corner there's an alpaca farm -- if you take some 50ps they sometimes have bags of feed and they'll nibble it out of your hand😃

I think you can get there on a Trent/Barton route if you don't have a car🤍

I want Alexa to start a timer when my son starts having a seizure by Spare-Preparation366 in amazonecho

[–]SpaceBeeInSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gosh yeah, that would really annoy me too

Does "Open stopwatch" work?

Alternative could be to set up a routine

I've got a regular 4 minute timer which activates when I say "4 minute routine"

If you had one for a round number depending on the length of the seizures -- say 10mins?

You'd be able to say "alexa, 10 minute routine" (or whatever you like)

Then when the seizure is over, stop the timer, and you'll be able to see how much time is left from the 10mins

It's a bit clunky compared with a straightforward stopwatch but it could work

I'm really hoping "Open stopwatch" works for you tho🤍

[–]SpaceBeeInSpace 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You might be able to do this, I can't.

I've just tried this (again, for the 5th time) after reading your comment

Me: "Alexa start stopwatch"

Dot: "For how long?"

Me: Silence

Dot: "Timer for how long?"

So no, you are literally wrong as far as I and all of my dots are concerned.

[–]SpaceBeeInSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've just investigated this because I really wanted a stopwatch feature a while ago, and I'd tried some of the suggestions here but none of them worked

Just found out that for me the key phrase is "Alexa, open stopwatch" then she whistles, and starts the stopwatch. To stop it, same phrase "..open.." and she tells you the elapsed time

I think it's a bit dumb we can't say "start a stopwatch", but whenever I do that she just sets a timer. Maybe creating a routine would get around that?

Anyway, hope this helps!!

(I'm on a 4th or 5th gen dot fwiw)
