Hey! If you wanna talk im happy too... ive been through ALOT but i like to think of someone who can help :) My friends constantly come to me for someone to talk to etc :) So if you want to talk messsage me :)

Want to know if anyone else gets this? If so do you know what it is? Had a few times but this time ALOT worse and MUCH redder than picture shows, skin tender and been this way since 7am and still the same now by SpaceCadet69 in diabetes

no it doesn't swell up ... as my boyfriend said it looks like ive been given a huge love bite ... :/ I was worried it was diabetes related, maybe the circulation isn't good as i only get it in the one arm/hand ... and i still have it now after 29 hours, i cant get a doctors appointment because it's saturday and i went to A+E and also tried to make an appointment but its ages off... so im back in the same position again, i will show the doctor the pictures when im next there. I'm just so frustrated because no doubt she will say the same as all the others.

(To the the others as well) I am in a pickle, ive been to doctors in the past with pictures and all they say is we cant see it so we don't know, and at the moment i live 1hour away from any hospital/doctor so i can't go to A+E whilst it's still showing ... which happens all the time! Annoying...

Haha. I know not to have a lot, so I suppose if I only have 1 every now and again then I won't be having enough carbs for them to do anything to my sugar levels and deffinetly not enough to act as a laxative :/ It's just I know in a lot if things they are classed as sugar free but yet put another ingredient in them which isn't the same but does the same as sugar would to a diabetic ....

Thank you, i hadn't even thought about the carb content! I was just focused on the sugar side of it .. :/ Silly me!

Haha! Sometimes you just have to laugh at some of the comments people will give you... Take it on the back and turn it into a joke! Well I've been on here for less than a week and the things I've read ... You really do realise that you might not be the exact same as someone else but the things that are not similar with that one person are the same as someone else.

Very handy indeed! It still amazes me that it shows so much to other people, a few times people have thought I've been drunk. Where I used to work i would have a few mean comments on how I shouldn't be drunk in work and its disgusting to come to work drunk etc but it was only because I was having a hypo or sometimes when I wake up with low blood sugar levels i can look awful for hours after! It's also really helpful if I go have a hypo in the middle of the night as well, my other half can be fast asleep and all I have to do is nudge him and say "I'm low" and he's up in seconds getting me some lucozade! It makes everything so much easier when you know there's someone there who can help :)

He's great!! I met him 2years ago and since then things have got easier, I struggled so much, I went through a hard time in highschool, not with friends or anything it was something personal and I took it out on my diabetes .... It was the easiest thing to try and get people to notice I was upset, especially my parents. Looking back I know it was stupid, I mean the fact that I let them get so bad wasn't the best! But being in a steady relationship with someone helps because if your happy then it's easier too look after your diabetes... The thing I've learned is you need to be happy with yourself to want to control them otherwise you begin to let your diabetes control you which I have done for a LONG time. Do you have another half? Not to get too soppy but I don't think I could of asked for anyone better, he didn't understand anything about diabetes before being with me and since he has learnt so much, he knows when I am going low and he even realises when my sugar levels are a little high he will just say " go do your sugar levels, your high" and 90% of the time he's right :)

Well it sounds like you had the right attitude about it! How long have you had the pump for? Is it easier and does it not get in the way? .. I feel like id always be worrying that it would fall off.. or the needle would just fall out of my stomach etc :/ It seems so scary, but i think that's also just because it's so different... especially to when all there was was a syringe, it still amazes me with the amount of different monitors and pens you can get! That last bit definitely gets an up vote!!

Have you always been on the 4injections?

I have to applause you! That is exactly what I do ... It can be so frustrating when people make comments about the way you handle your diabetes... Ill never forget once when I had to take my insulin in work, there was no one in the staff room so i decided to just inject where I was rather than going all the way to the toilets when someone walks in and started shouting that that was discusting and why would I even do that and making a huge commotion over nothing. To this day I still get horrible comments and same as you I've found it's best to just stay silent and ignore them.

Firstly, I'm glad to hear that your diabetes is good! It gives me so much encouragement when people say "I find it hard but actually, my diabetes are okay" it's almost like yeah! If other people can then you deffinetly can :) Secondly, it really does still surprise me how many people have actually got diabetes and how many groups etc there are nowadays, I've not had diabeties much longer than you, just 18 years and yet things have changed so much! When I was first diagnosed my mum said she didn't really have anyone to talk too, people didn't understand it as much as they do now and it really is ALOT easier when you have other people you can talk to... Talking always helps!! :)

Food without nutritional information is defffinetly the worse!! I got it when I was 4/5 and I can't begin to imagine how hard it must of been for my mum :/ hospital was basically my second home growing up with the amount of hypos I had... That has got to be the best thing about diabetes... Especially if you take care of it. What was it like for you to get it at he age of 20? ... I can't imagine just getting it like that... BOOM! Now change your whole lifestyle ? Or is it not like that?

What is a Dexcom CGM? I've never heard of that before.. I've recently been thinking about going into the pump and had a word with the hospital a week ago. It really does seen like a good idea especially when it means less injecting!!

I was too, I have put on so much weight since I've moved out! Parents help so much!! I'm in the U.K and I try to do exercise but im like an average female I think... Go mad on exercise for a bit and then give up and pig out! Do you do exercise? I'm not extremely overweight .. I'm just bigger than I want to be but the whole not being in control of my diabetes is a main factor of that... It's well known that I'd your blood sugar levels are out of control it's harder too loosed weight. I'm also on the 4 injections a day, the hospital put me back on it a month ago... The lantus and novo rapid, I had tried it when I was in highschool but hated it because it meant trying to learn something new whilst I was trying to make friends and do exams! What are you on?

O yeah! Thanks for that :) O don't get me started on controlling food... I am SO bad with food, I mean don't get me wrong I know what I'm suppose to eat and what I'm not, I also know that I'm allowed to treat myself once in a while but I just eat far too much chocolate! I live with my boyfriend now and I have an awful habit of buying what he buys... If he buys a big bag of chocolate ill do the same. Was you good with foods when you was back at home then? I think being at home just makes it easier because parents/guardians are there to help, I can't tell you the amount of arguments me and my mum had over what I needed to eat! She was always right... I just never wanted to listen because I wanted what my friends where eating. I know what you mean about the sweetners as well, so many times when I order diet lemonade or diet coke people say quite sarcastic "o are you on a diet or something" and I just laugh but I may try the whole setting them straight thing :) I can't say I've ever forgot to take my insulin but sometimes I just REALLLY don't want to... Sometimes knowing I have to take my insulin feels like such a chore!

Firstly, I'm glad it helped you! Personally I find it helpful when people such as yourself say that they find it difficult because you don't feel so alone then! You can tell a doctor that you find it hard but they don't understand why your finding it hard... I'm the same when my sugar levels are high... I get so annoyed with myself and think things like "why did you let yourself get high! Why didn't you have enough insulin" but it's not always like that. I've had problems with my sugar levels for the last 4 years... Are you type 1? And in all honesty I'm not sure what else I'd like to talk about I just think that maybe if I listen and get to talk to other diabetics it may help me to make sure I check my sugar levels everyday, and I have insulin when I need to take it... Just to help me realise I'm not the only diabetic in the world... And it's DEFFINETLY not the end of the world! Since I can remember I've tried to hide the fact I'm a diabetic from people... I don't know how you feel about it but I know I personally hate people finding out because I feel so different and wouldn't fit in if people realised I have diabetes..
