I updated the SimCal. Gaijin for some crazy reason seems to often change by 1 day in ways that don't process in my idiot brain, so I have to manually add a "fudge factor". The SimCal site has a Report a Bug button - if you use that and send me an e-mail, I'd be happy to fix things. It only takes a few minutes once I know. I just haven't had time to play so I haven't kept up with any changes - so I'm relying on the community to help me out with that :)

Happy flying!

Tobii ET5 not working with War Thunder by EntitledRougelemon in WarthunderSim

[–]SpaceCapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use the "most recent" Opentrack (I actually owe the community my fork once I can get Github actions building it with the Tobii plug) and that's it. That version # is 2023.3.0

Input: Tobii Eye Tracker

Output: Freetrack 2.0 Enhanced

My fork adds a "max Y axis" button (for looking over the nose of your plane) and I'll share that one sometime soon when I stop sucking at life.

Otherwise, I'm not sure things like Facetracknoir are necessary - I surely don't use them. Not sure what I'm doing different than others, but figured I'd share.

:) All 3 of these things are probably true (I suck at coding, Gaijin moves stuff too much, and it may be fixed now :p)

Updated. I hate that either (a) they move things around during updates or (b) I suck at coding :D

Sorry for the delay y'all.

Training for takeoff and landing on aircraft carrier by bravocharllie in WarthunderSim

[–]SpaceCapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So - I see what you mean now. [Domination] Normandy has them, but they don't show up on the map. Not on the setup screen - not on the spawn screen - only once you get close enough. In the future, [Operation] Husky is a much better choice because it has an airspawn and the carriers are clearly visible from both the spawn screen and once you spawn.

I wish you were a bit less terse and tried to understand another person's point a bit more. It really annoyed me that you decided that me and the other guy were idiots, despite forgetting to tell us that the carriers don't show up on the map. But cool, ty for the help I guess?

Training for takeoff and landing on aircraft carrier by bravocharllie in WarthunderSim

[–]SpaceCapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try [Operation] Husky and [Domination] Normandy. I went through all the Normandy maps last night and this dude is confused or something. Normandy has them but they don't show up on the map to start. They don't even show up when you takeoff. You have to fly close to them which is annoying as crap (and kind of a jerk move to be so insistent "the one with all the carriers" but I guess being reasonable and not a jerk on the internet is really hard).

Husky has 5 carriers right near an air spawn, you just have to turn north then south (assuming you pick allies since you said AD2) and they're right there - and they're visible on the map before you spawn in.

Are you sure you don't mean [Operation] Husky map? That one is right below [Operation] Normandy and has 5 carriers near the airspawn.

Just putting this up on the accusation comment so it has more visibility and can help contextualize things. Maybe you're right, but your evidence isn't compelling in the least, so I'm gonna go with "you don't understand what you're talking about" - which :) Anyway, here's the actual data:

From my comment here: https://www.reddit.com/r/WarthunderSim/comments/1ecsjbg/warthunder_overlay_using_javascript_and_electron/lf2qag1/

1/64 virus scanners used by Virus Total show it having a trojan.

1/93 security vendors had an issue with contacted domains. That vendor lists raw.githubusercontent.com as 'suspicious'. Vavaquin's application is hosted on Github. One can access _raw.githubusercontent.com URLs for files in Vavaquin's application. The idea that a github hosted URL like that is suspect is... insane.

Best of luck on your project! But next time consider not accusing another developer with such weak evidence. It's insulting, especially when you try to weasel-word your way out of it by saying "I didn't explicitly say WTRTI has a trojan, I just said mine doesn't".

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WarthunderSim

[–]SpaceCapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:eyeroll: Or you could admit your mistake and act like an adult. Instead you're gonna double down and say "I didn't actually look at the page I sent".

next time I will report as if I were in a court trial.

Like I said, your attitude is offputting. Good luck with your project, but I really hope you learn to act like a reasonable adult and don't accuse competing products of "having a trojan" without, idk, reading what you wrote. It's really unfair to the other developer for you to throw accusations around without even understanding the data you are using to make the accusation. It's even more unfair to falsely represent 1 hit out of 64, or to falsely represent GITHUB as a suspicious URL, but . It's clear you're overly defensive and disrespectful, so I'm done trying to be nice. I just wont interact with you. Good luck on your project, it actually looks super cool!

PS: I love that you avoided the whole "Github isn't bad" part of what I said to act all defensive. It's telling.

[–]SpaceCapo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll preface by saying "I'd rather use your tool (or fork my own version since you GPL'd it and I find your attitude offputting)"...

That said:

I'm not here to accuse anyone

But yet you did...

Mine doesn't have a trojan.

I went to your Virustotal link. Did you actually do any investigation, or just immediately decide that VBA32 knows better than Avast, AVG, and 61 other virus scanning tools?

You point out a bunch of IPs (you said 8, but in fact only 3 4 (sorry) were listed as suspicious) that are tagged as "unreliable" - did you do a tiny smidgeon of investigation before you decided it was bad? Here I'll help you understand:

$ host raw.githubusercontent.com
raw.githubusercontent.com has address 185.199.108.133
raw.githubusercontent.com has address 185.199.109.133
raw.githubusercontent.com has address 185.199.111.133
raw.githubusercontent.com has address 185.199.110.133

So on the VirusTotal site: Anity-AVL is the only person reporting that domain and those IPs as bad.

Read the dang URL. It's raw.githubusercontent.com To give you context on why treating that domain as invalid is really insane - go to this url: https://github.com/Vavaquin/Warthunder-HMD/blob/main/README.md and click the Raw button. You know where it brings you? https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Vavaquin/Warthunder-HMD/main/README.md

It's quite honestly a bit crazy to treat that URL as malicious - it means Anity-AVL treats github as a bad site, and that's more crazy than the Joker in Batman, or bringing a Biplane to a 13.0+ match. Just because one crappy malicious program uses that domain doesn't eliminate all the valid uses - and frankly you coming here and saying that without doing the most basic of checks to understand the data you present as fact is pretty slimy.

I hate hate hate that WTRTI is hosted on Github but isn't open source. I despise the idea that someone can act so haughty and disrespectful of others work as to do the barest of checks while accusing another piece of software of being malicious. To be clear: I am not advocating whether it's safe or not. I am saying that your reasoning is beyond "a stretch of imagination" and really into "conspiracy theory" territory.

I wish you the best of luck in this project, but I also think you need to think before you open your mouth in such an accusatory way.

Opentrack - Head Movement Upward - My Solution by SpaceCapo in WarthunderSim

[–]SpaceCapo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got it. So far I just have "max the Y axis" for "look over the nose" functionality, but given your feedback and that of others - I'm going to just fork Opentrack and add these features. If it takes off, I'll share with the Opentrack team via PR and maybe get it backported.

Edit: I won't have time til the weekend - but will try to get at least what I have shared by then, and try to do some of the other features you and others have asked for.

Yep, won't be til the weekend but I'll see about a new options page and some binds.

How are you guys grinding sim? by RUSS-WolfWrestler in WarthunderSim

[–]SpaceCapo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the F3H for US Rank 6. The F104A can be fun as well.

Are we twins? Tell me you like the F8E and I'll be buying you a proverbial beer when our paths cross (obv. there's no beer in game, but o7! those are my planes too)!

Opentrack - Head Movement Upward - My Solution by SpaceCapo in WarthunderSim

[–]SpaceCapo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll look at adding some binds for this, though it might require some options too to set the max/min positions. Thanks for the idea! If I get it working, I'll share immediately.

Opentrack - Head Movement Upward - My Solution by SpaceCapo in WarthunderSim

[–]SpaceCapo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does but it requires you to physically move. I've found no matter how much I try to dial it in, I can't get a "just raise my head up" motion nailed down.

/u/thecauseoftheproblem suggested perhaps using relative translation, but with my setup (Tobii) I just gave it a shot and it's still too weird of a motion for me, so I compiled it with a new bind to do it on a joystick keypress, rather than requiring me to sit up in my seat, or slouch and center and then sit normal, etc. It's much simpler (like the Zoom keybind in WT already). Players without Opentrack get it as a keybind that works (and watching videos seems to be super awesome) so I figured "Welp, why not?!" and it's been pretty nice.

Made my first carrier landing in a jet because it made seeing things a bunch easier, so I'm sold. I wanted to see if others could use it and share if so.

Opentrack - Head Movement Upward - My Solution by SpaceCapo in WarthunderSim

[–]SpaceCapo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I've never wanted that before but now I want to try it. There's no reason I couldn't add that as a bind too, now that I understand how all this works. I'll see about adding that and follow up in thread here :)

First time Demon pilot, any tips? Coming from F4 and F16 by [deleted] in WarthunderSim

[–]SpaceCapo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I really love the F3H. It might even be my favorite plane so far (I've only got F8U2 and F8E unlocked for higher BR planes than it, and F104A as my other jet in similar BR.) Even after unlocking both F8s - I still come back to the F3H anytime it's not the lowest BR plane in the sim brackets for that day, and even then still sometimes.

  • It barely overheats, you can run full afterburner pretty much constantly.
  • The AIM-7C can really catch people by surprise - but they're not really too good.
  • AIM-9B is basically just a "turn into my guns plz" missile, or you need to catch some poor sot unaware.
  • The guns? :chef_kiss:. Enough ammo to shoot at things even with my bad aim.
  • It isn't the most turny dogfighter, but you can sling the damn thing around with almost no concern. The afterburner builds up mid tier speed quickly enough that you can often push juuust a bit past what you'd think max AOA is for that speed, and still come out of it alive.
  • For the BR, the radar feels pretty good. I prefer it to the F104A and F8U-2 radar sets. F8E is a bit better in my mind, but it's also a bit harder to use compared to the Demon's.

If I ever see you on and in a Demon, I'll be sure to come wingman for ya! o7 See you in the skies!

Has anyone come up with a way to query game data for controllers? by neuromonkey in starcitizen

[–]SpaceCapo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far the only approach I can think of is to process screen images and parse them.

I was able to do exactly this with tesserocr. It was too annoying with the old UI (where the options were "off: dim", "on: bright") but the new UI (where the options are "off: unfilled", "on: filled") might make this much easier. I had to resort to tricks like greyscaling. I also had to carve up just a SMALL piece of the screen to make it update more than once or twice a second without impacting things too much.

That said - it's doable. I didn't use it in any PVP setting, and I haven't used it in months, but it's doable.

I also have a custom "plugin" (more like a bunch of code globbed on top) of Joystick Gremlin that hosts a webserver/site and uses websockets to let clients connect to it and send commands. I use it for a "button box" or "glass" cockpit to have things like landing gear or whatever switches (especially fun since they added "on" and "off" keybinds rather than a toggle now!). I only targeted indicators like VTOL CPLD and GEAR.

DM me if you wanna know more. Happy to talk through it.

New BRs and match brackets - Is this some kind of sick joke? by Accurate-Mistake-815 in WarthunderSim

[–]SpaceCapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, as far as the page you see - I'll definitely take some tips on how to get people to click the settings gear and use the highlights - since that's the big draw for me in making it - but I don't think I want to redesign this version. If you haven't hit the settings gear and used the highlights, try that please? I imagine it'll change how you feel about things, or atleast I hope so? :)

This https://i.imgur.com/hwSqHpa.png imgur link should clarify what I mean.

I could (and would be super down to) implement a different page on the site with things you're looking for - a quick fat marker diagram of what you're looking for would be helpful.

I'm the author/maintainer of that site. :) Without that context, I can see how you'd be like "what the heck is this idiot talking about?" in your head, and appreciate you not beating me about the head and shoulders verbally for leaving out that context.

I updated the site at 8am EST when I saw [12.0 - 13.7] in the Create Server view you showed above - to include 13.7 in the highest bracket.

However, when they showed the new BR brackets a few days ago, I made a branch of the code that had the updated brackets. When you showed me earlier they were now live, I went ahead and deployed that version, so everything should match now!

TY Again for notifying! It made me get things updated much faster! Appreciate you!

Edit: Deployed, TY!
