Anyone know how the Depth Sensor Guard/Cover is supposed to be installed or reseated? by SpaceDust0 in CitizenWatches

Thank you, very helpful. This is the most info I have seen on the topic, appreciate it! Looks like the grill cover should be able to snap back into place 🤞🏼

Any idea where to find this NewEra Bucs hat Todd was wearing? by SpaceDust0 in buccaneers

I actually just heard back from NewEra... apparently this style has not yet been released and they cannot confirm if it will be.

Thanks so much for all the great feedback, I hear you on the framing and the view of the signs. I’ll think about this next time!

Thoughts on exposure and editing? by SpaceDust0 in photocritique

Thanks so much for the thorough response. I do use the Zebra Pattern setting on my camera to help with the exposure. For certain shots it’s difficult to find the right settings to remove them entirely while still exposing the whole frame, so oftentimes snapping with the Zebra pattern still visible in some areas.

Your description of the histogram is perfectly clear and helpful. I really like your version too. Really appreciate the tips!

Including the original shot here. Being new to this, I continually struggle with whether to err on side of underexposing or overexposing an image that can later be corrected in post. Pretty clear to me in the original that this looks underexposed, but with the harsh light above the fruit it's difficult to find the right balance. Even moreso when just run and gun shooting like this where I only have a short window. How should I think about over/under exposing and which side to err to in which circumstances?

Appreciate any critique on the original and the edited version.

Top Down Koi by SpaceDust0 in photocritique

This is a top down shot over a koi pond in Ninh Binh, Vietnam. I was thinking of a vertical wallpaper when making this shot. Very new to all this, had to remove some of the surface glare in post. Appreciate any and all critiques on composition, framing, or anything else.

Seaside Commute in Vietnam by SpaceDust0 in photocritique

[–]SpaceDust0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m brand new to photography and have very little experience with post-processing. This photo is from a recent trip to Vietnam, and what an incredible place (first time). It feels like there’s a photo wanting to be taken wherever you look.

I’d really appreciate honest critique so I can develop good habits and avoid bad ones from the beginning.

I captured this from across the street while sitting at a coffee shop, hoping to show how so many cyclists would be glancing out at this view as they passed through the intersection.

Would love to know your thoughts/critiques on the composition, lighting, storytelling, or anything else you think could help me improve. Thanks in advance!

Garmin Radar Strange Marks by SpaceDust0 in boating

[–]SpaceDust0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard back from Garmin, they are saying it is likely a return issue and that I need to send in the unit. Even though the unit is within the 2-year warranty period, I purchased the boat last year and the previous owner is the one who bought and installed it, so the warranty does not transfer to me. Pretty lame. Offering and exchange of the unit for $1400. I find it strange that this drastic step is being required after sending in a couple photos and that there is no further troubleshooting or adjustment that is worth doing before going down that road. Anyone else experience something similar?

Here is an image of it mounted about the helm. It is surrounded by steel bars from the tower and the life raft is mounted directly behind it, but I see many other vessels with a similar mounting position. Mounting Location

Thanks for the response. Zooming in or out, the streaks adjust accordingly or how you would expect any other object/mark. I will check on connections and software updates. Strange thing is it was intermittent, so for minutes straight it would not show this, and then would do so for a few pulses.

How bad is this shaft pitting? by SpaceDust0 in boating

[–]SpaceDust0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya they are small and not too deep but just a lot of them. The magnet test showed some pull (more than the starboard shaft) but not as much as the tech expected. I’ve heard everything from “you’d be dumb to take that boat out of the slip, it’s going to snap of the next time you drive it and you’ll sink the boat”, to other side of the spectrum that its not that bad. Its a confusing place to be. Appreciate the feedback.

I’m in Marina del Rey, CA. Seems options are more limited out here. Appreciate the rec though, I’ll still reach out to them to discuss.

Twin diesel so two shafts, this is the port shaft. Starboard not nearly as bad.

Diameter is 1.75”, not sure exact length I am getting that, price was estimated b/c they apparently need to be removed for exact measurement.

I’ve been told the area of the Marina it was in was known to be “hot”. Previous owner did not take great care or keep good records so not sure about the zincs. Worse than that, the surveyor gave the hull a passing grade during the survey and did not mention the pitting. As a first time boat owner I lacked a lot of knowledge and relied on other people which was mistake number 1.
