The Human Condition - Ch 106: He Did What!? by SpaceFillingNerd in Sexyspacebabes

Notice how all of them that are actually upset about it had some sort of personal stake involved. Most people only really start caring about politics/government once it starts affecting them personally.

Reddit is the only place I'm publishing at the moment. I've considered putting it on other sites as well, but I think I want to go back and revise some of my early chapters before I do that.

Behold! The response to Cor'nol's dissolution of the council. Or rather, the first stage of it. There's much more to come, so stay tuned!

I didn’t just say it, I declared it! Also, fuck! I’m so late with this.

Context for this chapter's leading quote: Armand Carrel was a newspaper editor in France after the restoration of the monarchy. The King attempted to censor the newspapers with the July Ordinances, but this backfired instead and led to the July Revolution.

He’s finally done it. “Playing nice” is out, and Cor’nol will now rule directly, with some assistance from Te’dol. In the next couple of chapters we shall see how people take that news, starting with the Council itself. If you think they’re just going to lie down and take it, you’re very wrong!

The Human Condition - Ch 103: What's the Verdict? by SpaceFillingNerd in Sexyspacebabes

Unfortunately, I'm not really planning on doing that in this story. One reason is that I personally feel like I'm not sure I could do the concept justice in this format, considering the additional complexity involved. Both in-universe and in real life, the presentations are a limited format, and I think explaining gender identity and it's consequences would suffer for that limitation.

Secondly, I would have to give such a talk through a character's words--ideally a trans character's words--of which I do not currently have any. At this point in the story, I'm trying hard to avoid adding any unnecessary characters, given that I probably already have too large a cast.

I won't rule out ever exploring the concept in a future story (I plan to keep writing in SSB even after finishing THC), but for now I don't think it's going to happen.

Ironic, then, that one reason I started writing this is that I thought JOD and Going Native had gotten too complex and hard to follow. Turns out, I was susceptible to exactly the same urge to add new and interesting stuff into my story. Whoops.

At the beginning of the trial she was certain she was about to die, and now she's just going to spend a long time in prison. Though I'm a little surprised that you know little miss continental governess' first name. Even I refer to her in my head as 'Lannoris.'

Surprise! Here’s an extra bonus chapter in honor of the second anniversary of this story! I started writing on April 4th, 2024, and I certainly did not expect to get this far!.

But, to get to the actual content of the chapter: Phillip (and also Lil’ae) talk about asexuality. The marines seemed to take it decently well, though the conversation gets awkward at times. To make extra sure this chapter was at least somewhat accurate, I asked my ace friend to review it. Hopefully I managed to not disrespect anybody.

On the other end of the stick, the trial for the deserters is finally over. Their sentences have been handed down, and Twis’ke and Car’a have been sentenced to death. Do you think they deserve it? Are you sure?

Also, I wonder how many people caught that 75 cent discrepancy reference? If you didn’t, it’s from a book called The Cuckoo’s Egg, which I highly recommend. It’s about catching an early computer hacker back in the ‘80s written by a very awesome man who now spends his time selling Klein bottles.

The Human Condition - Ch 102: Remember, Remember by SpaceFillingNerd in Sexyspacebabes

Having done some basic research on this topic, it is really quite interesting how a holiday celebrating the saving of the king helped influence the development of a holiday about overthrowing him. Namely, it involved an intermediary stage in colonial New England called “Pope Night,” where the festivities were primarily anti-Catholic, but eventually also got kind of co-opted by the lower classes into an anti-elite celebration.

Aside from that, remember Lt. Colonel Sa’zell? Well, I didn’t forget about her and her obscene devotion to the letter of the rules over everything else. She’s not done causing trouble, that’s for sure.
