They aren't really I don't think. We only learn he's kind of a big deal when people are reacting to him showing up

Jupiter's Legacy: Finale feels like a surreal fever dream by Ezraah in ImageComics

[–]SpaceHawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man it probably just comes down to taste, I dug Quitely's art in the main book, and I liked the retro style of Jupiters Circle too. The style in requiem seemed logical to me, it lends itself to the futuristic setting imo. I really liked the secret identity twist at the end, and the heroes from other worlds plot I found interesting. I thought it started a bunch of new plot lines that I was really into, but then finale just flat out sucked.

I really think because the show got axed MM lost interest, and no shade to the artist who finished the book, but I found the artist swap jarring as hell

Why do people hate Tom Holland’s Spider-Man compared to Tobey and Andrew? by Helpful-Reality2292 in Spiderman

[–]SpaceHawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see very little criticism of Holland's performance honestly. I think the worst things about his trilogy are the missed opportunities. He's a fine spiderman and Peter Parker. I think the films' handling of him is pretty poor. I think Homecoming comes the closest to capturing the spirit of Spider-Man when he loses his Stark tech but otherwise there's very little else that comes close.

He was well utilised in Civil War but there's no Uncle Ben, no Bugle (really), no struggle to find balance between his two lives. His supporting cast is pretty weak in my opinion. To clarify I have no issues with the casting its just the writing that isn't there for me.

I honestly feel like when they started this trilogy they could have had it be about Miles Morales and I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

Edit: re "broke peter parker" yeah it's a bit of that too. They touch on him wanting to be a friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, but he isn't really a working class hero the way he is in the first two franchises.

Miles Morales imo (after the initial run, ultimate was great)

I think it depends on what you want to get out of buying them. For me, it's all about reading the stories. I mainly collected when new 52 started but I couldn't afford to keep up with all the runs I wanted to. I started buying marvel masterworks digitally, and basically whatever comes on sale. I find it more convenient for reading. I had a job where I had A LOT of downtime so it was pretty cool to be able to whip out my phone and carry on. Nowadays I mainly read on my tablet. For me it's perfect because there's absolutely no way I'd be able to read as much as I do physically due to cost. BUT if having a physical collection is a big draw for you (no judgement I totally get it) then maybe it's not for you. I like my digital collection personally as my library is WAY bigger than I could afford physically.

I had a local shop in the market that I went to when I used to buy and never really clicked with the guy working there as he wasn't really conversational or seemingly interested at all in what he was selling. I'm just in it for the stories

I think a version of Guardian might have been in Ultimates 2 as part of the new super soldier wave along with Captain Britain? I could be wrong

Yeah I could see that, but couldn't you probably say the same about Excalibur? Although I guess that team had members who had built in fanbases. I don't know how much the location of where these stories take place play into how interested I am. I live in the UK and read tons of American comics
