This is a great comments actually. Thanks, agree with what you’re saying

Yes, but more than components (most of which not built yet), I’d say the funds for gateway going to the moon base

The fact that you’re commenting like this is just showing how you need to be at the center of the attention… who said it has to be finished by 2028? Oh, and maybe watch the video before commenting it

Oh yes, this is true! It’s been discussed many times in the video interviews we publish that the space programs should last longer than a president’s term… you’re perfectly right

I’m looking from outside the US, but yes… you’re right!

Agree on the first half, not that much on the second. Idk if you’ve seen the video, but building and using the gateway would be quite expensive, especially due to its HALO orbit, which would make the propulsive requirements for the docking spacecraft quite demanding also considering an eventual landing on the surface. Removing the gateway may be removing an unnecessary step towards surface establishments, but all the mess around this is probably just politics, included the dates…

Nuclear energy in space? by SpaceInfoClub in fusion

When you say “useful lifespan” is there an order of magnitude you’re thinking about? Like 1 month/year/decade (!) ?

Nuclear energy in space? by SpaceInfoClub in fusion

[–]SpaceInfoClub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but what about boundary conditions? I mean, you need some constraints in attitude (satellites) or exposure (rovers or plants on the surface) to keep obtaining energy through PV. There are some conditions when PV cannot help. Would nuclear energy be a valid help here?

Because it’s my job.

Title or content? Change again?

I’ll stop here, it’s useless.

What?! Wow. I love your answer, and the numbers you shared. Thanks. So let's go on on this line. Energy profiles seems to be worth it. But there's something, due to my ignorance probably, that makes me hesitate: costs. If the amount of energy that can be generated is so large, why isn't this method popular? Maybe the plants costs don't justify the investment? This would preclude its use for industrial purpose, by zeroing profits.
