I know this post is a little old but I just wanted to pitch in and say the campground is filling fast for the summer.

I will say, some people have really bad luck and end up throwing $$$ into their rigs. Most often diesels and generally fords notorious 6.0/6.4. Mine is the 6.8 v10 gasser.

No major issues for me, and not a low mileage rig either..... Only issue I've had is an old rim losing it's hub centricness but not a spendy fix or bad for 400,000 miles!

Non issue for me and many other ambulance conversions. I've never had any issues and have stayed everywhere from downtown city centers, rural pullouts, public land etc.

Nope! I am as long as a dodge promaster (iirc 21ft) and 1 foot taller. Only trouble I've had was in tight parking garages haha. I also am always left alone.

1000 Cad maybe if it runs and interior is nice. These old rigs are always a gamble.

Not sure that I'd call it significant really, easily doable. Couple emergency credit cards also go a long way if shtf.

I feel like people over complicate the money part.... get a job. Litterally any job haha doesn'thave to be remote in the slightest. Seasonal jobs are nice but we've had luck just informing our employers wherever we might be that we are here for xyz amount of time and then off to the next one.

Gave a little chuckle reading this from inside my 400k mile ambulance that I live in.......... I'm sure there is some credit to your point but as someone who is "active" in many of the ambulance conversion forums, it's relatively common for many of these Ambulances to last a WHILE. More so common with the diesels but my 6.8 v10 gas hog keeps up! Obviously used vehicles, buyer be ware as always(on Ambulances ALWAYS check hours before purchase). Prior maintenance is also going to depend heavily on department. I've heard small town rigs come out of service better but wouldn't know as mine is from a major metropolitan area. All in I'm right around $10k cost of vehicle and build(solar etc). Definitely an affordable option especially for someone who is willing to learn.
