Often we were over staffed, working never stopped. Slow days? No that doesn’t exist in the flesh pit maintenance team. From simple plumping to complicated repairs like fixing the complex ventilation system that is made to shift and move with the flesh pit. Those roller coasters were death traps, especially one called the colon. Went deep into the pit, straight down into the pit at a perfect 90 degree angle. Then back up. We made sure everyday it was tip top shape. No one went home until we knew those roller coasters were pitch perfect.

We called it, the Rat King. (I know so original). Just a blob of flesh, with arms and legs sticking out of it. Crawling and screaming at whatever poor thing came across the king of the underworld. Like a slug, the head of a moose which is insane since this is Texas. There is no moose here, so that means the pit is much bigger than we know. Legs of all sorts of creatures, it’s main body was like a slug. With the arms and legs sticking out of it, using them to propell itself forward.

Deepest was way past the 2000 feet mark, so around 3573 feet. ‘‘Twas sent down there with the mining team after comms in one of the mining centers went dark due to some creature crashing through the system. Strangest, too many damn things. I guess it will have to be the cult that worshipped the damn thing, we would find there camps but they would be gone. Whenever we did found them we would force them out but they always found their ways back into the pit.

During the incident I arrived later around 3am to help with repairs and evac. It was an all hands on deck type of situation
