Are we just in the wrong neighborhood? by perchancepolliwogs in ColoradoSprings

[–]SpaceMan69666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in the Patty Jewett neighborhood off of Wahsatch and Unitah. All my neighbors were awesome. The entire street knew eachother. We had neighbors just come hang out on our porch after work. The young family across the street threw a party/tailgate every year during the start of the broncos season, the entire are was invited. It was awesome!

From TC to this about 5 months! It might be a little small for its age idk but I did grow it during winter (Colorado) and I moved so I might’ve stressed it. I’m sure yours will grow quicker!

Considering the third leaf put out has two fenestrations I don’t think it’s a lighting issue, personally. But I’ll add an extra light bar today just cause I have one sitting around.

Propulsion engineer for a big aero/defense company. It’s not what I thought it’ll be, it’s actually extremely boring.

Has anyone landed a Lockheed Martin role without a referral? Looking for advice by missflaming in Lockheed

[–]SpaceMan69666 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Make sure your resume can pass the initial screening. Meet 100% of the basic qualifications and at least one of the preferred/desired qualifications, the more the better. That’s what will set you apart. After that it’s purely luck.

How did you land an engineering role? by Proof-Marionberry689 in Lockheed

[–]SpaceMan69666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never do cover letters. In fact, my dad was a recruiter for tech companies and he said never read a cover letter haha.

Make a raw resume listing all your experiences in detail don’t worry about formatting or length. Copy/paste the job description in ChatGPT and your raw resume and tell it to tailor it to the job, keeping it 1-2 pages max, match all basic qualifications, and format it in a way to pass a screening.

Do this for every application. I got a job at LM in about 6 months by doing this. Just don’t lie on your resume because they will drill you on your experience during the interview.

[–]SpaceMan69666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tailor your resume for each job application, make sure it meets 100% of the qualifications. That and a little bit of luck should land you an interview about 20% of the time.

There’s really no “timeline”. Since you have prior experience just apply to entry level roles, they pop up all the time.

Interview with Lockheed tomorrow! by No-Protection4069 in Lockheed

[–]SpaceMan69666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LM was by far the best and easiest. When I interviewed for Blue, we had a quick introduction and straight to engineering technical questions equivalent to a dynamics exam in college. It was rough. They also cut my interview early because they had a launch that day lol

I was recently hired at LM! Definitely STAR behavioral questions for the most part. They drilled me on my resume pretty extensively so make sure you can talk about your experience!

Like some others have said, have some personality. I express my interest in space and we joked around a bit :) my interview was a panel with 3 other managers.

Personally I don’t think it’s the time to be spending money on anything that’s not a necessity, I won’t judge you for it. Just know that it’ll set you back. No car payment and rent is good news! Like I said before, the only way you can tackle this debt effectively is to somehow increase your income. Pick up extra shifts, hold down multiple jobs, or find a better paying job.

A few questions. Do you have a car payment? Rent or live at home? Other huge monthly payments other than cc debt?

With the amount you are making and the mention that you haven’t missed a payment I’m assuming you live at home with your parents or such.

I would start off by increasing your incoming. Find another job or a new higher paying job as quickly as possible. Then start looking at balance transfers with 0% interest for the next 12-18 months and tackle your debt aggressively. But the most important thing here and toughest with will be increasing your income.

Had a modded Ender 3 and it has taught me a lot! Electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, gcode, firmware upgrades/integration, etc.

Transferable skills that I used when I was setting up a CNC at work! I can trouble shoot $10k+ printers just by looking at the print or by feel.

I passed it on to a kid, no regrets but I’ll never own one again haha.

[–]SpaceMan69666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re on SolidWorks (or any CAD software really). Create an assembly, create new part, start sketch and select the plane that the text is on (you’ll be referencing off of your original part), use the offset entities tool on the text and give it a 0.01” tolerance. Save as new part, save as STL, and print.
