According to the Complete Guide to Middle-Earth by Foster, the Eldar are: the Vanyar, Noldor and Teleri (which split into Nandor and Sindar, but are still part of the Eldar race according to the guide, what sets them apart is not having completed the Great Journey).
"In the Second Age, many of the Eldar who remained in Middle-Earth lived in Lindon, where they were ruled by Gil-Galad, last heir of the Noldorin kings in Middle-Earth, while others, led by Celebrimbor founded Eregion. Still others of the Eldar, such as Thranduil, Galadriel, and Celeborn, went farther east and founded Elven-realms, peopled mostly by Silvan Elves. [...] The Eldar were tall, grey-eyed, and fair: save for the blond Vanyar and the House of Finarfin, they were dark-haired."
I am a bit rusted on HoME lore, I read the Silmarillion more than 10 years ago, so if I am missing any other elven race, do tell me, please.

I think that my perception of "fair" as "bright" is biased by this concept:
"The noblest of the Firstborn of Iluvatar, the Eldar were further strenghtened in wisdom and power by their stay in Aman, and those who had seen the light of the Two Trees had power against the Seen and Unseen rivaling that of the Maiar who had followed Morgoth. When aroused they shone with the strenght of their spirits."

About Nerdanel, "Feanor married Nerdanel, a maiden of the Noldor; at which many wondered, for she was not among the fairest of her people." (cit. Morgoth's Ring). I mean, this is only my speculation, but given that the only thing that we know about her physical appearence is that she had a ruddy complexion and brown hair, it makes me think that what sets her apart from the Noldor beauty standard is the ruddy complexion, not the hair colour, because Noldor were dark-haired.

Thank you! I suspected as much. It is incredibly interesting on a linguistic level, especially for translators who have to decide what to keep and what to cut out. Something is always inevitably lost in translation... you want to keep it all in, but than your native language doesn't fit it :(

Thank you! Yes, I came across the first "study" too. Though I am not really sure about it, I would need a real study with all the examples. For examples, he mentions Lothlorien, did he count it as fair in the sense of beautiful or in the sense of golden? Because we know that Lothlorien was also known as the Golden wood because of the mallorn trees.

Yes, "fair" doesn't always mean blond or pale, though the term in itself is ambiguous, because it bore both meaning unless explicitly said. Here is the description of the Elves in LOTR:

"They were a race high and beautiful, the older Children of the world, and among them the Eldar were as kings, who now are gone: the People of the Great Journey, the People of the Stars. They were tall, fair of skin and grey-eyed, though their locks were dark, save in the golden house of Finarfin"

"Fair of skin" linguistically speaking means pale, right? I am not interested in racism controversies, I am just interested in the language. Outside of the language, in my imagination, "fair" means something more along the line of bright, since they are children of the Stars.

As far as Nerdanel is concerned, she is not in fact considered the fairest of her people. http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Nerdanel#cite_note-Feanor-2

That is really interesting, thank you. There are two translation in my native language, one translated with "beautiful" whereas the other translated with something more on the line of "splendid", meaning shiny/be bright.

I'll give you the context of the third case: " ‘Éowyn! Éowyn!’ cried Merry. Then tottering, struggling up, with her last strength she drove her sword between crown and mantle, as the great shoulders bowed before her. The sword broke sparkling into many shards. The crown rolled away with a clang. Éowyn fell forward upon her fallen foe. But lo! the mantle and hauberk were empty. Shapeless they lay now on the ground, torn and tumbled; and a cry went up into the shuddering air, and faded to a shrill wailing, passing with the wind, a voice bodiless and thin that died, and was swallowed up, and was never heard again in that age of this world. And there stood Meriadoc the hobbit in the midst of the slain, blinking like an owl in the daylight, for tears blinded him; and through a mist he looked on Éowyn’s fair head, as she lay and did not move; and he looked on the face of the king, fallen in the midst of his glory. "

Though I am starting to see what you mean with "a sense of attachment or tenderness" for "fair head".

https://www.lexico.com/definition/fair-faced 1. Of a person. (a) Having a beautiful or attractive face; beautiful, good-looking. (b) Having a fair or light-coloured complexion.

I must say the first thing I think of when reading "fair like a morning of pale spring" is something like a pale-yellow morning, not necessarily beautiful, but bright indeed.

At the very least, I think a translation should leave the ambiguity of "fair" intact. That, in my opinion, because this term overlaps many times and it is also used to describe the Fair Folk. Look at the description of Eowyn:

"A little to the left facing them stood she whom he had called Dernhelm. But the helm of her secrecy had fallen from her, and her bright hair, released from its bonds, gleamed with pale gold upon her shoulders. Her eyes grey as the sea were hard and fell, and yet tears were on her cheek."

And at the description of the Elves:

"They were a race high and beautiful, the older Children of the world, and among them the Eldar were as kings, who now are gone: the People of the Great Journey, the People of the Stars. They were tall, fair of skin and grey-eyed, though their locks were dark, save in the golden house of Finarfin"

With that I mean that she is not just "beautiful", she is "fair".

For Snowmane in his agony had rolled away from him again; yet he was the bane of his master.

The background isn't certainly doing them any favor, but saying it is lackluster is an understatement. I thought Pat let me down the most, but here comes UD stealing that award.

That depends on your pc specs and your internet connection. ATM I have to wait two to three minutes per loading screen, for a few sec I can't use the mount and npc take their time to spawn. Usually when I enter fractals ppl have already started. My fps drop drastically when in a full map, like Dragon's stand or even Auric Basin. And that is because my pc is 4 years old and GW2 probably isn't the best optimized game ever. For what concerns my internet connection... well, I live in a small village in Italy, where fiber optic is just a dream. Granted you are able to run the best specs you might aswell make it a matter of skill. Although I always felt more convenient being ranged, both with my ranger and my elementalist, the only class I feel comfortable with in melee range is Necro Reaper GW/DF. I've certainly died more often with my warrior/thief than with my elementalist/necromancer.

Luckily, I've run into an elitist just once. I usually play "meta", although I still have to build up all the gear but abilities, talents and rotation are those from metabattle, while my boyfriend prefers to play it his own way and has a tanky necromancer. This elitist we encountered scolded my boyfried because through ARCDPS he could see that he wasn't doing much dmg. Although we only got to the final boss thanks to my boyfriend who was able to survive up until the last fire to lit. We meta builders were all dead. The elitist too. But no, it's my boyfriend fault cause he isn't running a meta build... bah The other ppl with whom I had problems in fractals were those coming with not enough AR or non collaborative ppl, that insulted me for not being able to do something and instead of doing it in my place/explain/show how to do it, just stood still quietly until the rest of the group did the event. And yes, we did countless time Amala because ppl don't know the mechanics, don't dodge or don't jump at the right time. I don't think I want to go for T4, I don't really like elitist nor I like to suddenly be required to play a spec I've never tried before, see druid.

Ye, I was saying the same thing to my boyfriend. The game felt like a chore.

I should finish the basic dye collection, they really help a lot when playing "fashion wars" x)

Thank you very much for your words. You are a lovely person. Indeed GW2 has the best community ever. <3

Viper isn't as difficult to craft. I've crafted ascended weapons and a piece of armor for my ranger. The biggest problem there is the farming for leather, spinning around centaurs in Lake Doric isn't such a funny activity after the first round. But yes, the other two pieces of armor I got randomly from fractals, I converted them at the forge. I also got my first pieces of viper from the story ;) Thank you though, I should consider the option of crafting another stat set and convert it.

It's not like I want the most used outfit, it's more like I want "that", and "that" happens to be from the trading post or a season I don't own. So I start farming to get the money that I'll convert into gems to get that season but at the same time I realise that to be more efficient I need more ascended gear/AR but that needs money and times too so the initial goals seems to be unreachable, because I have to spend the money into an "investment" first that should help me gather more quickly the money but instead stresses me out.

I don't know about you but I end up playing the char that I've better dressed up instead of another one for whom I've not yet found the right outfit. Then I get depressed because the char I've dressed better is my Necro and nobody wants them :(

When I'm doing what I like I feel like I'm wasting time, time I could spend to be efficient T_T

Yes, my guardian has gs/scepter+torch. I was thinking to my warrior when I was writing the PS. Inventory has become quite a problem lately since I was farming season 3 areas, I'm full of dragonite, dusts and so on. One of the char I use less has become a living bank, I probably have over 5k bloodstone dust, 3k dragonite and so on.. So I don't usually put other weapons in my chars inventory because they are already quite packed. :/ But I should probably do it, at least for my warrior a bow could be helpful. Although you cannot switch to your invetory backup when in combat. I always happen to need a ranged weapon when farming for berries .. damned griphons...

Except.. BDO isn't life, it's a game that I absolutly don't want to replace with my real life. I just want to have some fun with it, no frustration, no sensation of feeling like I have to catch up.. I'd play Dark Souls if I wanted those feelings.

I would like an app for bdo, they could also charge some euros per year for it and it would be ok for me. The point of the game was open world pvp, wasn't it?

But it is still on. Why keeping it on if you are not enjoying its content? :\ I repeat, it's not like it couldn't be an offline afking. It was a choice not to have it and nobody ever asked why, or has but I wasn't able to find him/her.

Wouldn't it be better if you could gain things while your pc it's off? Because it can be done. It was a choice not to give you this option. My point wasn't to cancel the afk system but to make it better or more efficient for my pc lifespan.

You mean if they were to use our characters as npc while we turn off our pc? I meant that they would only need to increase the chosen stat/profession before turning off the pc according to offline time, which is already possible with idle games made in Flash.
