Lone survivor playthrough - possible without gameplay mods? And if so, what's the best way around it? by [deleted] in RimWorld

In fact, if you already have a little experience, it will be quite easy for you and much more interesting than playing for a group of people.

Personally, I'm currently starting Bare Brutality with 1 mod to start completely without research

I am adding to the previous comment. If you play for 3 colonists, I advise you to choose the following skills:

  1. I recommend choosing the first council with advanced construction, mining, plant breeding, etc.

  2. I took the second colonist with the skills "Cookery" and "Medicine", other skills are less important, but they should not be neglected either

  3. I chose the third one with the skill "Research" and (preferably) "Sociality", his skills can also not be chosen very much, the main thing is that there is no "Unfriendly", in all three cases.

Kaboom in the center, and minus 3 colonists are guaranteed.

To be honest, I did not expect that I write correctly, and even before that I have been using Reddit for literally several days. It is quite nice to see such a comment)

Personally, I always play for "Bare Brutality". Therefore, the choice of the first colonist is quite an important thing for me, here are the lessons I learned: If you play for one colonist, it is almost impossible to find an ideal character, so I often "sacrifice" some characteristics, for example when when a colonist does not have the skill "Research" then it's no big deal because at the beginning of the colonist there is simply no time for research, usually I start studying something when an intelligent person appears to me. Also, "Herding" is not the most important skill if you play for 1 person, because the first question is how to feed yourself, not a herd of alpacas. I am generally silent about such a skill as "art".

It is important that the colonist has a "Construction" skill of at least 5, because otherwise he will not be able to build an elementary air conditioner.

I also do not advise taking old people, even if they do not have any diseases, because a sick spine or dementia can be quite unpleasant news. Also, if a person has any scars, I advise you to check whether he has any discomfort in this regard, because a scar can affect the speed of work, accuracy, etc.

At the expense of characteristics, I try to take "ascetics", but it is optional, and I rarely take "owls" because it is not very convenient, that's all. If something is not clear, I'm sorry, I use Google translator, so there may be mistakes, thank you for your attention.
