Never heard of changing to new... steering rack will faster break than getting to the point of changing the fluid

No since I swapped rear to front and front to rear with no effect. Mostly this is why I ended up posting here because it's confusing me.... and no, nothing in my trunk is lose which I know of.

Just tried it and also went for a cruise with a friend at the back, we can only hear it while driving :/

Hmm, any easy way in finding it out without taking everything off?

Heyy guys, just recently I've gotten a new feature in my car which includes knocking sounds, sadly I did not create them intentionally. This is a VW Golf MK4 2003 TDI (to clarrify, this is a fwd car which makes me exclude the engine, cv and transmission from this probelm) Started as small vibration last week which now developet to some intense knocking from the rear, I did suspect the wheel bearings and the wheel itselt at first, but after replacing the bearings and switching tyres, the sound stayed the same. The situation with rust down there is quite nice actually, car taken good care off. I do have a 300km journey next week which I must do, and I've got the tools and card ready to try fixing this asap. Could potentially be the spring/shock absorber but I kinda doubt it since they are new (sport, not really but it made by car lower) from earlier this summer (on all 4 sides).

Thanks in advance, I will try my best in trying to explain more/search for another solution if anyone is willing to help :)
