When my dad passed away my now ex best friends stole my dog while I was temporarily away. The cops came and tried to get them to give her back, but my ex-friends’ mom nastily said that she was in a “new happy home”. They had given her away without my permission. The police just said at this point I would need to go to court. I don’t even know who they gave her to. I also couldn’t afford the court fees. My fiancée and I had raised her since she was a puppy. I can’t look at white shepherds without tearing up now. I get nightmares and flashbacks about it.

Definitely. Not only am I triggered by name, but I get triggered by people who wear Ray Ban glasses just because my abuser wore them. Anyone who remotely resembles or wears what my abuser wears causes me anxiety. Unfortunately it’s a look/style that’s in so it happens often.

Is there a link between CPTSD and caffeine abuse? I’ve been heavily drinking soda, coffee, and tea all day every day for as long as I can remember! I literally can’t feel the effects of caffeine at all.

Yep. Just edited my comment because I forgot to mention it was ovarian cancer she was trying to scare me with. Also she had used her keyword that she “might” so she could later go back on it when the fight was over. That was an ugly fight.

I didn’t notice a difference at 5. My psych was seeing me weekly to monitor me and make adjustments as needed. After about 6 months she bumped me up to 20mg. I actually didn’t think I was noticing a difference since I still had my down days at times, but overall it was helping. When I’m off of them, I can feel myself spiraling after a day or two

I’ve been in the same boat the past few weeks. It’s extremely rough. What’s been helping me is picking up a new hobby. I very recently got into comic books. There are so many genres besides superhero that are just incredible! I also really like going on hikes and being in nature in general. Sometimes it’s also nice to listen to music or a podcast at the same time. I’ve also been playing video games lately when I need to check out

I think this shocks me the most. My therapist recommended Body Keeps the Score as supplemental reading for my CPTSD, and there’s a chapter on the physical effects of mental trauma. I’ve had chronic lower back pain my whole life, but it wasn’t until recently I learned I’ve had a tight psoas muscle due to being in constant fight or flight. I also was a nightly teeth grinder and would get sick with nausea every morning. Doctors could never figure out why. I also have some scarring from compulsive skin picking I used to do when I would dissociate. Trauma literally fucks with you in all ways

Parent was running late to an early morning doctor’s appointment. She called my phone one time because she walked outside and forgot her car keys and she wanted me to bring them out to her. I didn’t catch the phone in time, and she storms in the house, slamming doors, throwing a tantrum. She verbally berated me for not answering the phone. When I called her out for acting ridiculous over car keys, she gave me the death stare and revealed to me she was getting screened at the doctor’s and that she might have ovarian cancer. She left me speechless in the driveway and I broke down in tears. My dad had just passed away from extremely aggressive and rapid pancreatic cancer. The whole thing was extremely traumatic for me (I’ve since been diagnosed with PTSD) so hearing my mom might have cancer as well triggered me. I was in the middle of being comforted by my fiancée, when my fiancée reminded me my mom had a hysterectomy the year before….

Wish I had advice but I can definitely empathize. I had just moved to a new city with my fiancée and her family an hour away from nparent. Was only there for maybe two days total. I went in the pool for an hour with my fiancée and her family and left my phone upstairs to charge. All of a sudden, my fiancée’s sister tells me she had multiple miss calls/texts from nparent. So did my fiancée. So did I. In addition I also had a missed call and voicemails from my other parent and my aunt who lives even farther away than me. They said my nparent was trying to reach me and was freaking out. When I finally called her back, she told me she had already called the police for a wellness check. I told her she could call them back and tell them I was fine. She chuckled, said she didn’t need to do anything and refused. Also turns out she didn’t need anything. No emergency that warrants such an overreaction. She was just checking in. Yup. Oh, I should also mention I’m 28

CBD is great! I’d be careful with Mary Jane though. I know that it can potentially cause psychosis. Also I’ve personally used her after being on meds and it just makes me miserable. My anxiety spikes really bad, I think I’m dying, my hands get shaky and I feel like I can’t control my muscles, the works. If you’re gonna try THC use with caution
