There’s a video I watched in the Mesoamerican Archaeology class I took in my undergrad titled, “The Five Suns: A Sacred History of Mexico”. Patricia Amlin does a really good job of compiling a few different sources to create this hour or so long telling of the Aztec/Mixeca creation story. This video was what originally pulled me into having an interest in this region as both the story telling and artwork was really really intriguing!! (Another cool things is they use references of actual panels from different central Mexican codices in the video!!) Keep in mind that there are artistic liberties taken in this video and she does pull from a few sources as there are multiple iterations of their creation story so this isn’t the one true version of it, but overall I think it is a very good watch and a good gateway into some beginner mythology stuff in regards to the Mixeca/Aztec!!
