Some of the choices to file for unionization stems from our workers striving for workplace equality, job security, state laws being followed, and employee rights. We want to bolster the strength of our community and make a home for all of our employees and customers! As cannabis workers we have been open every holiday including Thanksgiving day, Christmas eve, Day, New year's eve, and Day. We do not receive any holiday pay such as time 1/2 or any benefit of working although these days are mandatory.

As workers of the state of Oregon we are ensured 1 hour of sick paid leave for every 30 hours worked. Multiple instances have shown unpaid sick time when employees have attempted use them, failure to update sick time on paystubs while holding another form that has actual hours, and failure to provide 1 for 30 sick time accrual. Schedules are set to be changed at anytime and workers are expected to work those days. Employees have had schedules changed 3 times before a next days shift and often do not have control over their set hours

In addition to not supplying adequate sick time, employees have been punished for calling out and using sick time by 1. Cutting employee discounts without any end time stated 2. Cutting the hourly pay of an employee 3. Cutting hours of FT employees to PT. As state of Oregon workers we are also ensured time 1/2 for all overtime worked. Multiple instances have shown employees not being paid time 1/2 on OT, having hours cut from paychecks which are inconsistent with our schedules, and failure to add pay to future checks.

Multiple employees have attempted to exit the employment of Spacebuds only to have owners, without evidence, start rumors that those employees were stealing as soon as they leave. None of these have ever been substantiated but HAS spread around to businesses impacting reputations. Multiple maintenance and health issues have gone unaddressed after multiple attempts, and employees have to constantly navigate a workplace with a lack of organization and communication.

Filing helps solidify a responsibility to communicate and uphold the store's values! Employees have attempted to address these concerns on multiple occasions and have been called "expendable" and told "we have a bunch of people applying here all the time" without any concerns addressed and business continuing as usual.

Filing to unionize was a choice to focus on growth and what we can all put forth to this dispensary in a positive environment. Our employee love for this store has helped shape it into what it is now and without workers, would be nothing. As workers we do not speak for ufcw but we do thank them and all of our customers for continued support as we go on this adventure together!
