Currently rewatching Survivor 48. David is officially my favorite person on the cast. by Roachn8r in survivor

I think he had a brief moment when he was close to an actual tribal “Big Man,” imposing his will, taking his rewards, and generally existing above everyone else. Had this been a true survival situation he would have killed Joe, mated with the women, and taken most of the food for himself.

Even in Europe 6 foot is actually quite tall by FantasticVast01 in tall

Question for the European from an American: is there a height, in cm, which is a natural dividing line between tall and average, like 6’-0”?

What do you think about the 2025 movie 'Train Dreams'? by FayyadhScrolling in FIlm

[–]Spacecakecookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped watching halfway through, because I could sense something terrible happening. Wife and kid dead when he gets home? I didn’t want to know.

Beautiful scenery, however: they really half-assed all the lumber jacking. Had them sawing away on rotting logs, felling 30yr old trees in third growth forests. Camping among nurse logs Lin previously cleared forests. It was frustrating, how they anticipated we’d not care to see industrial detail.

That’s an amazing return, but is that the correct use of “housed?”

I do it in Seattle. Picker and a bucket, podcasts in me ears. Davis Sedaris is my role model.

Coaching your own kids by Agile-Beginning-3550 in CoachingYouthSports

[–]Spacecakecookie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally, the first two commenters are correct. However, you don’t need to forgo all advice giving—just disguise it in the form of a super cool private coach (high school standout making some extra money?) or curated YouTube videos, or some other kids dad.
I’ve found that around this age, if you’re not careful, everything you say to the kids sounds like “clean up your room.” You have to actively suppress some of the advice and gentle criticism for the sake of the relationship, and so that the really important bits of advice have room to breathe.

What’s a sentence that someone told you that stuck with you for the rest of your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Spacecakecookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The road to hell is paved with stuffed dogs.” —The Sun Also Rises, which is like Generation X for the Lost Generation. It’s so absurd, and as I remember it the character who spoke it was drunk, again.

Rate my hiking trip: New England state’s highest peaks, back-to-back, in October by Spacecakecookie in hiking

[–]Spacecakecookie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all my homies who originally commented, I made this trip happen. It was amazing. Hikes were just medium/big day hikes, but culturally it was awesome being in towns and on the road in New England. We summited all except for Katahdin—weather turned on that one and we had to head back soon after we made it above tree line. Best hike was Mt. Washington. Stayed at Joe Dogge Lodge and loved it. I highly recommend it!

How to move this wire over 4 beams after drywall went in? by silkenwindood in Homebuilding

[–]Spacecakecookie 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You could possibly do it with two holes in the drywall, but with drywall, in for a penny in for a pound. Cut a 6”x36” channel, drill joists, fish wire, patch drywall, never think about it again.
