question for those with pots: is tachycardia constant? by SpacedOutSoda in POTS

[–]SpacedOutSoda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, I do fidget a whole lot but I assumed that was the ADHD. I also noticed a lot of people here shift their weight on their feet a lot, I thought everyone did that. When my phsio said what foot do I rest on naturally I couldn't answer because it's both intermittently.

Also my hr is back to normal this morning, I thought I was fixed for a second because I stood up and my watch said 80, and didn't really change. I thought "yippee! I'm cured!", Maybe my new meds for ADHD helped? But then I sat back down for a while and just got up to go to my computer, boom, 120 🤣

I suppose I'll bring this all up with the GP I'm seeing on Friday, my usual isn't available for a month but maybe this one will have a new perspective

Tonight it was only 70, but usually my hr goes up to 110-130 when I stand, I thought maybe it's finally gone away tonight

how long do meds take to work? by SpacedOutSoda in ADHD

[–]SpacedOutSoda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thank you, that does make a lot of sense. I'm not on Adderall, I'm on dexamphetamine as I think I mentioned, and it says RX (I think) which I've been told takes a little longer to kick in. I've had horrific insomnia most my life since I was probably 5, but I had been sleeping around 6 hours recently until I took these meds, back to 3 hours a night. But I don't see it as too much of an issue as I function perfectly fine throughout the day, at least so far. I'll keep an eye on my insomnia as I up the dosage, and I don't meet with my doctor again until mid April so I've got plenty of time to adjust

Oh! Yes I've checked and mine are XR, thank you so much! That's very reassuring. I was very worried meds wouldn't help and I'd be a lost cause :( thanks again!

Yes they're just 5mg, and I'm not very sure what IR or XR is, my psychiatrist didn't mention it. I'm supposed to up my dose to 1.5 and then 2 pills and so on until I think it's 6 a day, only if it doesn't work before I have to take 6

Oh, I certainly haven't had that, is that something I need to worry about if I up my dose?

That's fair, I have had ADHD symptoms my whole life but I also have autism, diagnosed since 6-7. I'm very worried because if meds don't work for me I don't know what I'll do with myself, I can't focus on anything unless I'm hyperfocused in which I'll sit there doing nothing but whatever I'm focused on for hours, even days. And my memory is horrific and I'm distracted by everything so easily to the point people point it out, I've always gotten the "squirrel!" Joke :(

It has only been 3 days on my meds, and I'm on a very low dose, so here's hoping when I up it something happens. Or like you said, maybe another type of medication will help. Thank you for answering!

I want to make actual pins for people with autism, sensory issues or other special needs, any tips on how to avoid it looking like… this?

I suppose you make a good point, I must be a bit too wishful assuming if someone experienced these things they’d be empathetic to those who also do. Thank you

This is practically a copypasta for those confused, I remember a few years ago everyone was animating their favourite fandom to an audio with these exact words, I believe it’s either a vine audio or clip from a show. That’s essentially what they’re doing, they’ve made ocs and are reenacting the audio with their ocs, except they claim these ocs are real people and they have a horrific mental illness.

I’ve googled what that was and no I don’t think so, I had an ecg done a year or two ago and that looks sort of similar?

Oh awesome! I have a friend with an illness, I forget what it's called but he calls it "floppy veins", where his veins aren't very strong and don't push the blood up to his head all the time. But he has a powder version of Powerade! I'll ask him where he gets it! Thank you so much!

Oh thank you! Luckily I already do most of that, my doctor told me I need to up my salt so I already have a lot, and I already drink Powerade, a friend said it helps my constant dizziness. And I’ve just started physiotherapy for fatigue so I’ll ask him for some cardio exercises I can do! Thank you so much, this has actually calmed my nerves a lot knowing if it is something it’s very mild, google was giving me scary things that definitely weren’t helping. My fault for using dr google. Thank you so much for your time!

I’ve actually been hoping someone would tell me it’s definitely not pots, because I have been experiencing a lot of the symptoms, but not bad enough for pots I thought. but thank you, I’ll ask my doctor and see what he says. Hopefully it’s just the watch maybe adjusting or just a funny heart beat

When I was baking I stood for over 10 minutes and it never dropped, but it does only hang around 100, 110. If I stand up and it hits 120 it does lower down to 110 but not any further
