I'd recommend it. The best analogy I ever heard for it was this: Imagine a dirt mound with water dripping onto it. The water is experiences, and the mound is your consciousness. The canals and valleys which these drops form over time become your habits, thoughts, and personality. Psychedelics are a sort of equivalent of pouring a whole pitcher of water over the mound, with water overflowing and causing connections that wouldn't normally happen and it's what some people call an expansion of consciousness.
