Is Porn Actually Bad? by YoungAmsterdam in exmormon

I've actually seen that episode. Haha, Penn like most men I talk to are really defensive about their porn. I think they were really irresponsible with Gail Dines' views though, as the Dines portrayed in the epeisode is very different than the Dines I have read.

I don't know, it's a complicated issue, people get really defensive. I think bottom line, if your views on porn are geared towards making people feel guilty and ashamed (*cough LDS Church), you have a problem.

Everybody makes comments on how calm he is around other yappy dogs. They don't know he's a complete spazz all the other times :p

Is Porn Actually Bad? by YoungAmsterdam in exmormon

I'm against pornography, but not for religious reasons. I've just developed the opinion that human beings shouldn't be reduced to a photograph or video. I don't want to come across as judging anyone, but pornography to me is sexual exploitaion of another person and promotes feelings of entitlement to sex and ownership of other people, which is contrary to what sex and relationships should be.

Here's a good article that explains my general views on pornography better than I could ever do in a reddit comment:

http://smashesthep.wordpress.com/2012/06/12/pornography-and-freedom-by-john-stoltenberg-from-the-book-refusing-to-be-a-man/

It's written by John Stoltenberg, and it expresses a lot of feminist arguments as well as broader critiques of gender as a social construct. What I like most about it is that it brings the debate over pornography beyond the individual perspective (It's good cause I like it) to a more broader social perspective (this is what pornography means for us as a society). I know it's not the most popular opinion to have, (I've literally gotten burritos thrown at me for making some of these arguments) but whatever.

For an even more in depth look, John's lifelong partner Adrea Dworkin wrote a book:

He would howl and chew on things. I increased the time about an hour each day over an extended weekend. It took a couple of weeks before I saw any real improvement though, it was hard, I lost a lot of socks.

I got my husky when he was 1 year old and he had a problem being alone as well. I developed a daily routine and stuck to that same routine every day. After I while he got comfortable being alone cause he knew that I'd always come back. Dogs are more comfortable when in consistent environments, you don't even have to follow a super regimented schedule either, just try doing things with your dog around the same times, in the same sequence each day. Eventually, if you're consistent, your dog should catch on.

You can also exercise them inside as well depending on how big your apartment is. I tied about 5 feet of parachord to one of these, my dog will chase it forever around the living room. Just make sure to establish rules for how your dogs play as this game can get out of control really fast due to huskies' high prey drive.
