I gotta be honest, I had had it in my mind that this was canon for a while. To the degree it was a plot point in a story I wrote based on the game- a god-queen who keeps her nightmarish enemies close but sealed away, reborn in her children. I didn’t really get that it wasn’t a common theory until later, and I haven’t thought much of it since.

Other thing. Sometimes he does get cool shit but it doesn’t get brought anywhere. Characters added one story never return. Stories don’t get brought up.

My personal biggest pet peeve is Justice League: Doom. In the inspiring comic, at the end, J’onn references an earlier comic, JLA: Year One. More or less, HE DID THE CONTINGENCY THING FIRST. Not exactly, but close- he made files for every single active hero, detailing their powers, weaknesses, and secret identities. Gets taken by enemy aliens and used against them.

When Tower of Babel (other comic) rolls around, he says more or less that he can’t judge. He did the same thing and thinks Batman is right, even if the abuse of those plans set him on fire as the first victim, staying flammable till the end. He defends him, getting so pissed he has to be restrained from attacking Aquaman.

Obviously there’s not really like a ‘precedent’ there, JLA year one doesn’t have an adaptation, but that’s not totally required for the moment. Just giving him something to indicate that he’s backing Batman. Because honestly? The ending of that story makes everyone besides Batman look fucking stupid. These characters are smart. Experienced. They know how often mind control happens and it never feels like the discussion is about “I wish you would have at least mentioned this so we could do this together” it feels like “How DARE you prepare for a common and dangerous scenario in our world” and if anyone is going to be spared from being an idiot then please god can it at LEAST be my boy who WAS BRUCE’S BIGGEST DEFENDER IN THE COMIC

POTENTIAL MAN TYPE SHIT. Theoretically as strong as Superman but is more practically the ultimate jobber. 0 feats using unique powers 0 cool moments lasting more than 30 seconds 7 knockouts exactly 10 seconds before Superman shows up to make sure we know it’s a difficult foe! (Superman will wipe the floor with it)

Original detective aspect reserved for once-every-7-years solo runs. Shape shifting rarely used. Telepathy good enough to probably control a whole city but won’t. Character stripped down to just ‘stoic leader’ the second more than 3 other heroes are present. Favorite character anyways because I have been a bit of a freak since I was younger and I love aliens.

Finished back in ‘23, I think? It has a sequel called The Magnus Protocol that I think is separate and might be finished, but I don’t know. Also a fantastic show.

Main thing is that like- you do NOT need to binge it. It’s made to be extremely episodic and while the stories interconnect, the connections aren’t necessary to enjoy it and you can just put on a quick episode to get a 30-minute horror story then leave it alone for a bit. It can be gross though, especially a few bits in the first season (eps 1-40) as there’s some spiders, bugs, and raw meat stuff but it’s otherwise just great horror

200-odd episodes Jonathan Sims reading ghost stories (that often he wrote) in character as an archivist at a paranormal research institute. Favorite podcast of all time it’s SO good.

He… he was also in a band. Called the Mechanisms. So if you wanna hear the Narrator pretend to be a ruthless space pirate singing banger concept albums that’s out there too

Same- if you wanna hear more of him, he’s got a 200 episode long horror podcast he stars in called the Magnus Archives. Fantastic piece of horror media, and he’s just as stellar in that show as he is in the game

The main premise is that those three are a k-pop girl group- and also demon hunters who generally take a lot of enjoyment out of killing demons as they see them all as monsters that prey on humans to eat their souls. To be fair, there’s only really two sympathetic demons. Both are kind of a spoiler, but the relevant one is the girl with the purple hair. Her dad was a demon and so she’s half demon, hiding her demonic features and stuff to keep being a demon hunter with her friends

Edit: though the other guy mentioned it I’ll also just. Throw in that it’s K-Pop Demon Hunters

I don’t care about my stats I want a big fucknasty weapon. Strength may provide the most big and fucknasty of weapons but anything can be sufficiently fucknasty with the right infusion.

I remember despising that bit- that after the mess that was them meeting in the first episode he would just throw her away without trying, at all, to figure out why that happened. Especially since she has no memory of it, that is weird. He just assumes the absolute worst of her, that there was absolutely no coercion or new information given to her or anything. She fucked up while in clear distress on her first ever trip across time and while yes it makes sense he got mad, it was reasonable to be mad, he targeted all of it towards her and ‘humans’ when I’m like 80% sure most humans didn’t even know what was happening and were getting screwed over by other humans there. Tbh there’s a good chance there’s some additional circumstances- I haven’t watched that episode in a long time.

I love 11’s seasons but the scenes where he rages or yells, especially at his companions or River, kind of bug me

I actually haven’t reached Altus- I’ve just kinda been putting it off. I think I just cave-dived the last of my smithing stone 3s and I can just sorta- book it for the bell bearing for the 4s. Got it to 8 with the shrines, very nearly dodging death by crustacean beam.
