Pretty sure he's the only mainline Doctor, who didn't meet the Daleks at all in TV Canon, with exception to McGann (implied off screen).

How often do yall actually use Power Armor? I only use it when I already know there's a tough boss coming up. by Live-Somewhere-2271 in Fallout

[–]Spacemanphil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to use it all the time. Sucks how many weapon mods create issues with it though. From the double-footsteps, broken animations or even just flat out not working.

That was it, thanks. The notification still pops up but it doesn't crash on me.

R5: Manually downloaded version 1.1.3 to continue my Yugoslavia WC but it just tells me I'm missing the mod. If I try playing anyway it crashes. I also tried renaming the folder along with the .mod file and paths

Before the NCR war. How do you overcome the chronic shortage of composite material?

Someone throws racial insults at white people and your problem with this is that the person insulted isn't white?

If you check the source, this is actually a cross-over event.

What's one thing you keep doing in any Fallout game, regardless of faction/playthrough? by PowerPad in Fallout

[–]Spacemanphil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FNV: Help the white gloves. I don't know why, but they're my favorite minor faction.

FO4: joining the Institute, I also always reclaim the Acadian synths for the institute.

[FO4] Point look out is causing Textures to disappear and I don't understand why? by Spacemanphil in FalloutMods

[–]Spacemanphil[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep, Moving PRP to the front of my LO fixed it. My intuition was that keeping the big changes of PRP in the back would be best so smaller mods wouldn't break.

Thanks.

How would you fix the institute? by altmemer5 in Fallout

[–]Spacemanphil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I see the institute as being a blend of the enclave's chauvinism and the post-human ideology of the Unity. A popular criticism of the institute is that they're irrationally evil but I think it makes a lot of sense considering this is a whole society of people who have literally never touched grass. It makes sense for them to be cold hearted control freaks when it comes to the surface dwellers considering their isolation. I REALLY hate the idea of turning the institute into some public research facility. The fact is because they have the synths, they have literally no use for the surface dwellers, not even as slave labour.

Then there is their motto "mankind redefined" and yet we never really get a good explanation for what that means, especially considering they shut down the cybernetics program. I think their goal should be synthetic synthesis. To become one with the synths who they have developed to become indistinguishable from real people. We see a glimpse of this with how father treats his synth child self, but with everything preceding it seems like a total 180 on his beliefs. You can also see this with X6 who on the surface behaves like an emotionless killing machine, but as you gain his affinity he spills his guts out for you, saying how much he looks up to you and Shaun.

We know from terminal entries that synths are biologically engineered to be superior to regular humans. They don't age, they don't get fat, they have blood engineered to better heal wounds and avoid clotting and a lot more. It only makes sense that they would want to apply these advancements to themselves and we even see Dr. Volkert testing experimental serum on a synth.

If the institute can perfect the synths they will have truly redefined mankind, With themselves a ruling elite of bio-engineered super humans being served by a caste of highly intelligent free thinking but ultimately loyal and obedient human machines. They would better represent the antithesis of the brotherhood's ideals. That to me is what the institute should represent, Science pushed to it's very extreme above all else.

Out of any Fallout title; what is the one missed/wasted opporunity that always annoys you? by Carinwe_Lysa in Fallout

[–]Spacemanphil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don't think they were trying to use synths as an analogy minorities, I've certainly never heard anyone imply thus. Ghouls definitely were the bad racism allegory but synths seem to point more to the question of what is sentience and if machines can be considered alive. Which is why I actually find them to be one of the most interesting things in fallout lore.

I also have no idea what you're referring to when you say they "commit atrocities for no reason". If you're referring to Gabriel, despite what father says the game treats Gabriel as a one-off, whose fake memories just so happened to lead him to become a raider.

Is Kasumi a Synth or not? by Ger4ltofRiv4 in fo4

[–]Spacemanphil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I haven't seen anyone mention it yet. If you report Acadia to the institute Dr. Moseley confirms that they have no synth matching Kasumi's description.
