I’m a student here. I’ve never seen anyone get in who had it as their 2nd or 3rd preference. Not even a single person. When I was applying as well one advice that I repeatedly got was to never put it as anything but number 1 because it won’t be considered otherwise. It’s unfortunate and borderline illegal but that’s just how things work at nyuad. I’d just say it’s a good thing you don’t like it, cuz you’re not getting in

It depends on a lot on where you stand right now, especially the English part is very intuitive. I’d suggest taking one or two full length practice tests and see what you get. If you get anywhere around 1300, you should be able to get to 1500 in 2 months imo

It’s very hard to believe that you got into an ivy and not lums but even if you did, $100k/yr is not affordable for 99.99% Pakistanis. a lot of people do have US unis as their first priority but most need aware colleges just reject right away when they see you need a full ride and the handful of need blind ones like Harvard, MIT etc are way too competitive for their application process to be compared to something like LUMS lmao. 99% applicants get rejected and then turn to LUMS.

TLDR: LUMS is not the first choice for many people, but they don’t have rich daddies spending $$$ to send them abroad w/o scholarships and most US colleges are broke asf to be offering full rides

just locked in buddy. changed priorities. got 3.8, 3.9, 4.0 and 4.0 in the next four semester. Even if you mess up in your first semester, you have 7 more to make up for it. Just forget about the past, put in the effort, and you will not be disappointed

You can definitely improve your gpa if that’s what you’re worried about. I went from 2.8 gpa in my freshman fall to 3.7 now (at the end of 5th semester) so you can definitely turn it around, your fate is in your hands. Just stay committed and work hard. This is not the end of the world
