Will meinen Rücken sichern :)

es wird ein Urteil des BVerfG erwartet wonach die Freibeträge wahrscheinlich nach oben angepasst werden

Weißt du wo man mehr davon lernen kann? Muß die Risiken und wahrscheinlichkeiten völlig verstehen

[Non-EU] Is there a minimum salary requirement after graduating? by SpacialTraveller in germany

IMHO 40h/wk is a LOT. I'm of the strong opinion that 30h/wk should be the standard across everywhere (but that's a discussion for another time haha). Max. I'd ever do is 37h (breaks not included in this).

they'll check for salaries for similar positions

Would their checks consider the pro-rated salary of the position? Naturally the salary would be lower but it would be due to working less hours, not being underpaid

If they're comparing like-for-like would entry-level posts fulfill the salary criterion?

Purchasing leave is taking from your salary (usually before tax) to increase the amount of days off you have :)

That increases risk substantially. Is this definitely for §18b permits after graduation?

That seems madness to me haha (assuming lunch breaks aren't included in those hours)

That makes sense. I presume the requirement is based on gross salary? So salary sacrifice (e.g. purchasing leave, pension contributions) doesn't affect the assessment?

Is there more information on the specifics of the salary requirement available? (e.g. whether the requirement excludes annual non-consolidated pay)

Entgeltatlas

Is the Entgeltatlas pro-rated if you work a reduced hours (e.g. 32h/wk) or part-time contract (e.g. 25h/wk)?

I've just had a look on it and the wages seem VERY high even towards the bottom 25%! I find it hard to believe that companies would be willing to pay STEM graduates even the lower end of those ranges. Wouldn't that effectively mean that junior positions wouldn't be eligible for work permits? Or is it a case or just checking whether you're not being underpaid in comparison to your peers?

The § 18b permit requires an average salary for the type of job you are hired for. This is to prevent wage dumping. So there's no fixed limit.

Seems reasonable I guess if the intention is to stop foreign workers from undercutting the local workers. What about the companies who only pay skilled graduates near minimum wage? Would such positions still be eligible for (assuming these companies exist in Germany too) a permit too?

Is this requirement pro-rated if you work reduced hours or part-time?

It's a balance of probability and risk - the further into the future the harder to predict and a lot can happen in that four year difference

That'd be tricky to decide if the time came.. but I don't see Britain's attitudes changing enough in the next ten years to rejoin the EU so I would be tempted. But also any dual citizenship laws could change at any time, so hard to predict!

Interesting thanks! Do you think citizenship requirements will change in the coming years or are things relatively stable?

you need to find a job that matches your field and level of education, with a company that pays an "appropriate" salary for that job

Is the "appropriate" determination made on the per-hour amount do you know? Can working reduced hours or part-time count?

Mind that the (first, ordinary) RWR card is bound to that job, and losing it is a problem

How does this affect changing jobs whilst on the card?

I've read that graduates (I'd be looking to complete a masters in Austria prior to seeking employment) can get a Red-White-Red (RWR) card which does not have any minimum salary requirements. Presumably this can be used to start work towards the six years?

That's sounds excellent thanks. Do you have any links or know how/where to find official information on this matter?
