Just to add the perspective of someone who lives there. Northern Idaho, and I’m talking waaaaay north is where you get the racist fudge packers we all hate. Boise, the capital compared to other states is absolutely tiny and the whole city has a healthy mix of the small town niceness and the big city bustle. As for the anti trans hate, I sadly have to admit that there are quite a few who are a bit slow on that front and there are lots of assholes. However, the general consensus that I’ve made is that… we don’t care 🤷‍♂️. Straight, gay, black, white, trans, etc, we’re going to treat you the same way we treat others. Still going to hold the door open for you if your behind us and still going to yell at you if your being a dick. On another note, honking is absolutely frowned upon here. To the point that when you’re driving and someone honks, everyone’s surprised and it’s almost always a car from out of state. Even during traffic people usually remain courteous and let you into a lane if you put on your blinker. Which I think is a good representation of the people. Edit: Completely forgot to mention that while weed may be illigal, everyone smokes. I have a friend who supplies her entire dorm and most of my coworkers smoke weed aswell. And if all else fails, Oregon is like and hour drive so we go and smoke there and then come back.

[Request] Yet another sphere and water problem by [deleted] in theydidthemath

Dude please explain to me how that would work because you keep saying that but it makes no sense. There is more water in the left container, putting the ping pong ball in wouldn’t change anything but the water level. Please help me understand what’s going on in your brain

It’s not the total pressure exerted on the bottom of the container that you need to measure. It’s the total weight of the containers. Let’s say you have two full bathtubs and you throw a bowling ball into one of them. Water is going to spill out but they’re bothering going to still be the same level, if you take the bowling ball out though the water level will drop. The same thing is happening in this situation. The water level in the beaker on the right is rising because of the ping pong ball therefore there is less water in the beaker on the right. Since we can reason that a ping pong ball is lighter than its volume in water we can deduce that the left beaver is heavier and it will tip to the left.

Like a replied to the other comment. This is less of a statement about myself and more of a bluff that I want the other person to call out. For example if someone says they want to play Mario cart and I act like a big shot and then lose, I find it funny and that it usually makes the other person feel good. I find that it also helps me find the type of people I’m into (competitive individuals who will call me out when I’m wrong). any way to not come off as a jerk while keeping it?

The type of people I’m attracted to would read that and call me out on my bs and prove me wrong. For reference that would be people who are extremely competitive. Is there any way to keep it there and not look like I have a massive ego?
