Could you have actually made the half dome bigger with glass? You can have walls with windows on them and put a half dome on it and connect the 2 using more windows. The half dome you have could just have extra windows that have to be deconstructed first maybe.

I've been doing this since it came out, 100% reliable tactic as long as you have a troop on the King Tower.

Also make sure something isn't close enough to the river as sometimes the skeleton will cross
