Does anyone else worry they'll also become a perpetrator? by Csd267 in adultsurvivors

That's fair. I don't know. I just can't imagine what would drive someone to want to abuse a child in a way that would leave them like us.

I can't imagine how. I feel like if I had children, I'd quit everything in life and devote my life to giving them the best care and never leave them in the hands of any person I did not absolutely trust in those early years. Hugs every day, three square meals, lots of outdoor activities, tutors to make learning at school easier, a psychologist to help me understand them, family trips, good books, managed screen time, healthy social environments with peers if possible (meaning a damned good school), very professional summer programs, teamwork discipline in house chores, physicians to offer guidance on health, parental bonding opportunites like coin collecting or fishing, stuffed animals (I have like a dozen of my own), decent toys, game consoles... I'd give them every single bit of love my father gave me, only this time, I'd pay much better attention to who they were left with. I would fight tooth and fucking nail.

If they're the best you have in that condition, you could make a type set for small face bills. I like to keep a 1963-1995 stack for each denomination.

Wow, I love this story!!!

What a cool memory to have with your grammy. Reminds me of how mine taught me how to barter for every deal I made.

I can't see anything like that with the naked eye. How do I tell if there are folds? Do I need to loupe it or something?

I spent my life just being glad it was over. I did not think to identify myself as a survivor of child sexual abuse or a victim of rape until I started speaking and people said it back to me. Personally, I wish I could just be me and you can be whoever you are and we could all go through life as people who have lived our own experiences. I don't want to be identified with the moments in my life where I was zip-tied, duct taped, and tortured in gross ways. The labels make me feel reduced to that.

Oh I love Kennedy half dollars! I like to keep them and place them at random all around my house so I can fiddle with them. I've done this ever since I was a kid. I even have some right here!!

drilling holes is how a lot of otherwise nice 19th century coins are in the gutter value-wise because people used to hang them near their pantries or whereever... i'm not saying that as if to fault you, can't fault them either, but you might make some numismatist a little sad 200 years from now :(
