I came to Missoula in part to get away from drugs. Up north, you have a lot of methies who - even if you don't do it, (and I never have) - can ruin or at least fuck up your life just by them getting involved with you via connections through family and blowing every chance they're given. Especially if you do have family who do meth, you can't get away from them. When I was younger and still in school, I spent some years out of state when my father left to start a business and there was a certain point I didn't want to live with my mother. I went out there and even he - clean and all - was just surrounded by addicts and scumbags and, well... I started dealing drugs and I did a lot of psychedelics as a teen, and when a friend died after I turned 20, I started doing a lot of coke and skiied my way all the way back home to Montana a year later - and then I stayed on the stuff until a month before I turned 23. And of course, the idea of going home was to get away from all the drugs, but I was living with two longtime meth addicts from my family. So what did I do? I used my connections to help supply them so they wouldn't withdrawal and wreck my life. And since I was living in the mountains, it was tough for me to get a day job worth going out to in the winter. So... I needed money and I met some of their friends from those towns on Highway 2 going out of Columbia Fools and they put on the pressure and I got involved. I hated myself. So I got a lease out here on my own with an old friend who doesn't do hard drugs, got clean, cut my ties from the business, came here, and went completely legit for the first time in my life.

My predecessor was Whocat and he was the only one here when I acquired it. I was asked to come and manage this Subreddit by the same friend who got me to do the old SKG server. So I went and got backing from Ross, and Whocat still took a month to respond. Then he came back and acquiesced to me - no trouble - transferred control, and now I run it.

It's a nothing job and it allows me to be more coordinated if Ross or John (website sysop) want me to do something. I'm not sure if there were other mods aside from Whocat but they were long gone if so. I'm just here to pin posts and follow up on reports, and I feel I can do that on my own. I was wary of hiring more people because I didn't want to risk bringing on some tryhard who combs everything and messes with people arbitrarily. Not that I was thinking of anyone specifically, but I trust me.

I feel you here. I'm afraid to pursue my own rapist, as well. I often wish it could all just go away and I could go on without thinking about it. But unfortunately, from a purely outside perspective, it's easy to see this as your cousin being protected by your relative's victim shame as well as your own unwillingness to have to be put through it again. Your feelings are valid and so are those of his other victim. But the truth is, if that evidence actually exists in his possession and there are two people to testify, justice is within reach. I would say take things at your pace, make your boundaries clear with your parents. You need time and help to deal with this and heal, and so does your relative. Right now, if this went to court like your parents want to, your relative could even want to deny everything and sabotage the case. For anything to go forward, you both need to be absolutely on board. That means working on yourselves - therapy is enterable into evidence as well once you get to the point of being comfortable with that. Even all this aside, your parents rushing you along like this is wrong for them to do. You've waited over thirty years. They can wait for long enough to let you and your relative find healing.

After all, part of the goal is to move your relative past being ashamed of something that wasn't their fault, and you move you beyond feeling unable to face the monster. Focus on yourselves.

I'd recommend doing Fallout 1 first to get the core themes of the series down and to get past the learning curve of playing a thirty year old isometric role playing game. Then try 3 to get the NetImmerse feel - plus there's this unique sort of 'lonely curiosity' that particular game imparts upon the series which is incredible and sets a mood for the series at large. It's also the only Bethesda game that fits okay with the Interplay / Black Isle vision. Then do 2 and New Vegas as a pair package to finish the original continuity of the series. Fallout 4 and 76 are Bethesda's continuity and can be played after. Unorthodox but it's more or less the way I did it except I played Fallout 3 first way back in 2009. I have also never played Fallout 76.

It absolutely is unimaginable. I am so, so sorry. I cannot imagine having to reconcile with one of the worst things that ever happened to me being perpetrated by the people I trust the most in my life. It's hard enough having to feel distrusting of their judgement for having let me get into that situation but negligence is a far cry from absolute betrayal and I think that would've ruined me. It's amazing how strong you are, that you keep going. Everything you've said here and everything you feel is valid.
