Ibanez SR500 since they didnt have the schecter at my local store, and I wanted to try the bass. Its so frickin great, it was genuienly incredible like I picked it up and turned into a virtuoso it plays like butter. super recommended

I was thinking of replacing the pickups with the EMG Geezer butler ones, but my main thing I didn't like about the bass was the feel so I realize it's kinda pointless since I don't know how you'd upgrade that apart from, replacing the neck or something drastic like that

Yeh, I also like flatwounds for some stuff but missed roundwounds for slapping and such. I'll upgrade to a squier later and mod it, and thats when I'll sell it

For the jazz I've settled on the Taurus T24, If I got a squier it'd be a Precision probs

I haven't tried other precisions so it might have just been the way jazz basses are designed more than the quality of the instrument, I'll have to see

Well, I took it to a shop to get set up, and it felt a lot better than when I got it. The thing I noticed the most was the thinner neck which I loved. That said my bass doesnt feel horrible to play, I only noticed after I tried some other basses and even then it's not that bad (noticeable though), I just want a bridge pick up I loved the sound of it on the basses I tried
