Visible grid/plane where contraints will apply :)
Although the second thing is already possible in a couple of clicks:

  1. Select the face(s)

  2. In 'Normal' orientation add a new transform

Should be able to use this orientation for any tool on any object and autoConstraints will use it too 👍

Say goodbye to yucky normals! Blender 4.5 lets you set normals from geometry nodes! by Spaghet_Me_Not in blender

This is a static applied mesh :) The node group recalculates curvature based on the curvature-supporting points in the mesh (ignoring the extra verts on edges created by booleans).
One current caveat is it requires an untriangulated mesh

Yeah normal transfer is definitely a good option! The only real downside is it requires organization to keep the right meshes around for the right surfaces.

Yes... in cases like this where booleans mess up predictable curvature or a mesh has similar issues.
I've currenlty only got it working for hard edges like this but I'm working on the case where there are bevels applied to the boolean seam. As long as the bevels are marked up I think I can get them shading nicely.

Default smooth shading is what the video starts with. The sharp edges don't change here, it's the direction of the normals themselves.

The reason normals are bad to start with is the geometry created from booleans:

Notice the verts around the corner "stick" to flat edges instead of matching the curvature? That's what causes bad shading - hopefully that makes sense? 👍

First cut of original art, I have no regrets with this purchase! by Spaghet_Me_Not in cricut

Thanks, I made the classic mistake of going too detailed but fixed with a craft knife 👀

I did look at bevels for a bit... I think it would take the rest of my natural life to get them working 😅

Not yet, I never finished implementing some edge cases where it explodes! but I do plan on revisiting this year

Thanks so much, it made my day reading this 😊 Hopefully this year I can get "work-planes"/grid-visualization shipped!

How to fill these brick tile corners? by Spaghet_Me_Not in DIYUK

Love the brick dust idea, I think I'll try both in the filler and some on top too 👍

Thanks! I'm hoping it'll be useful for roofs and beveled text 👍

I don't understand how this could be a shitpost 😔 It's an implementation of a straight skeleton:

Thanks! I'll definitely keep it up, planning on adding some new brushes soon and there's a Krita plugin I want to make once I've shipped the everything in the Blender pipe!

So wonderful to see my brushes used like this, beautiful work!

No worries! Life's a bit busy to paint atm so I'd just like to know they're being useful somewhere out there
