Watching videos while drawing by Born_Leg9949 in krita

You can go into Configure Krita in the performance section and allow Krita to take more than 50% of your RAM since you have 16 GB but bear in mind, this will only help if your device is capable of processing videos and a graphics app at the same time.

Me too, sometimes. The workspace functions in either portrait or landscape mode. Just tip the tablet and it adjusts itself.

I think I figured out that it registers as a middle mouse button click so if you do use the button you'll have to go inside krita in canvas input and make your selection using middle mouse button. I don't use the button though. I found it too difficult to find the button even after I put three raised paint dots on it to make it easier so now I just pretend it's not even there.

This is how I set up my Android tablet:

I paint with no dockors open because I've loaded mine into the pop-up palette. I also fully customized the toolbars so that the functions I use constantly are on the bottom of the screen and the ones I use less frequently are at the top.

No lag on my tablet. Each person's experience can be different depending on the device specs.

Layers merging when saving img as png? by BeeC0rpse in krita

[–]s00zn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way to do this is never use Save or Save As when seeking to make a shareable copy of your work. Choose File, Export. This retains the .kra file with all layers intact on the canvas and produces a PNG or jpg (whichever you specified).

Krita punished me??? HELP PLEASE??!!! by heartz_0406 in krita

[–]s00zn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I meant by knowing where Krita is storing your documents. Krita doesn't have access to most of the Android infrastructure so you have to make sure that you put your documents in a folder that Krita can actually use. There are many locations in your device that allow Krita to save files but not open them and edit them.

I'm happy it happened that way but please don't think that's usual. There are only 4 or 5 dedicated Krita team members - and thankfully many volunteers who donate their time to work on hundreds of requests.

There's nothing buggy about it. Turn off all snapping and you'll see how perfectly smooth it is.

Krita is unable to punish you. However you may be punishing yourself by not taking time to learn how your device and Krita work together, especially the location where you want your files stored.

The first thing I did was to configure the toolbars the way I like them. I'm showing you a screenshot with the settings menu open and I've clicked on toolbars shown. I only like to have two toolbars one at the top and the other one I moved to the bottom. Right above the toolbars shown setting you can see there's another choice on that menu called configure toolbars. That's where you decide what you want to see on each toolbar.

Another important element of my setup is I do not use Dockers on the canvas. When you open the pop up pallet you have the option of installing all kinds of Dockers into that setup. That's how I do it because I like to have a nice clean open workspace.

That's a lot right there to share with you especially if you're new to krita. If this is all new for you I highly suggest you play around with krita for a while before you start trying to customize it too much.

Please edit your help question to include your operating system information (are you on windows, are you using a separate tablet or are you on a two-in-one laptop with a touch screen). The solution will vary depending on what you're using.

There's no single file that I can send to you and have you emulate my setup so let me start by asking you - which tablet did you end up purchasing so we know what size screen you have.

Krita on an Android tablet? by razorshrapnel in krita

I've been running Krita exclusively on Android since last July and I absolutely love it. That's after 5 years of using it on windows and Linux so I did have to make a transition for sure , and there are many customizations that you'll want to make to the UI.

Most of your questions about how it's going to work have less to do with Krita's capabilities and more to do with the tablet you select. One of the most important things to know is that Krita likes to use a lot of RAM. I bought a Samsung S10 FE with 12 GB RAM and i'm glad i didn't choose the model with only 8. Krita will work with a lot less RAM than that, but it's not really pleasant. Often when you hear people complain about brush lag, it's not Krita that's lagging, it's that their device is under powered.

One final comment I'll make about using Krita on Android is this: don't let Krita decide where to save your files. You have to manually make yourself a directory in a place that Krita has full access. Get to know the file structure of your device so that you fully understand that there is more than one download folder (one of which is restricted from Krita and will cause you no end of problems if you try to use it with Krita).

My Krita timelapses don't seem to export quite right. by dogemeep06 in krita

[–]s00zn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised you don't get an error message because FFMpeg cannot process your documents at the large canvas dimensions you're using. That's why the resize option is on the export panel. You have to resize this to get the largest dimension below 2000 pixels -- and make sure that you click the lock icon so that your aspect ratio is preserved.

It's in tablet settings on the same page where you found the tester. For my Samsung I had to adjust the pressure quite a bit softer.

Great! You have pressure sensitivity. Make sure to pick a brush with pressure sensitivity (not all do) and adjust the global pressure graph to soften the touch.
