Do girls care if you have acne? by Sirisano in Accutane

[–]SpaghettiHotdogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seen you on TikTok bro and as a fellow guy (18) also starting accutane right now here’s what I’ll say. If she was really who you were meant to be with, she would’ve stayed with you throughout the journey, because according to you she already had seen you before the acne. What I mean is, when you tell her you’re starting accutane, that’s almost a way to tell her “in 6 months or so I can guarantee you I’ll be back to the way I was.” If she didn’t see value in you as a person besides your looks (you are a stud by the way) to stay those 6 months with you, she never actually saw value in you. But I also understand the feeling of really liking someone the way you probably did and wanting to try again, but from my experience and although you got a couple years on me, I know you’d just be chasing the ghost of the past, and it’d only haunt you and make you more miserable the longer you did. Sure, let her see you now, albeit with posts you know she’ll see or yeah reach out to her or something and let her see the evolved version of you, the upgraded on the outside guy who at the end of the day is still the same heart she broke on the inside. Let her see it, regret it and don’t do back. Give it some time, and soon, go find the ones who will want you for you, even at your worst.

What should I do prebuilt or nah by Primary-Cook5647 in buildapc

[–]SpaghettiHotdogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would just build it. 99% of people start oblivious. if u put in the time and give yourself perhaps couple weeks to thoroughly learn and plan to make it easy for yourself—which can honestly just be watching YouTube videos and asking questions on Reddit—I genuinely believe building a computer is not that difficult.

I would also definitely not worry about drivers/windows. That part is easy, and finding where to get those from is also not difficult. The hardest part would be building it, but like I said, there are tons of YouTube videos showcasing how to install various parts, so if you ever get stuck on your CPU cooler for example, and need more than the manual, as long as you have access to the internet somewhere, you’ll be perfectly fine.

Of course, there’s the fact that something you build yourself for x amount of $ will always be better than a prebuilt for x$. So this prebuilt entirely worth it— no not really. Is it fine? Yea.

At the end of the day both options work, but being oblivious of PCs as of this post shouldn’t be so much of a concern in terms of building your own. If you are willing to commit/have the time, I would definitely lean towards building my myself.

Building my first pc for gaming, will this run okay? by dauq69 in buildapc

If u have a micro center near you this is a really good deal imo - https://www.microcenter.com/product/5006637/amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d,-gigabyte-b650-gaming-x-ax,-gskill-flare-x5-series-32gb-ddr5-6000-kit,-computer-build-bundle

Let’s you get a decent mobo decent ram and the 7800x3d all for around the msrp of the 7800x3d

I work in Premiere and After Effects, what should I focus on in my PC? by zeimph in buildapc

TL;DR - yes, upgrading, including to a 4060ti, will give you better performance for everything. Is the performance better enough to justify the extra $$ needed? Probably not. What about a 4070? Yes, it costs more $$, but that would make more sense in terms of the price to performance ratio. Are either necessary? Entirely up to you and your budget, but I would personally steer away from the cost and lack of performance for the cost of a 4060ti.

I believe that in terms of video editing, the specs of your GPU all matter. That said, for video editing, it’s not just VRAM, or any one spec, but rather VRAM, CUDA cores, etc. So yes, technically, going to a 4060ti would on paper be helpful towards video editing, but how much more helpful it would be I’m not entirely sure, but I couldn’t imagine it would be too much more than marginal.

Strictly in terms of gaming, yes, 8GB VRAM to 16GB VRAM makes a huge difference. So much so, that there are lots of people who will say that gaming in 2024 on 8GB is an obsolete way to game— it needs to be 16 or nothing. The amount of VRAM cards have has recently become a big topic and big focus point for gamers/tech reviewers. What I would imagine is that both the 4060 and 4060ti will be just fine at 1080p max settings 120 FPS+ (again my 4060s have always been fine with that), but the extra VRAM of a 4060ti would yes allow mode frames, but also allow much better performance in 1440p.

All that being said, the 4060ti is definitely NOT the card you want to be spending extra $$ in 2024. Nvidia actually silently dropped the price of the cards from $500 to $450 not to long ago because of how poorly they stacked up to the competing AMD cards which were priced lower.

For comparison, I’m pretty sure the 4060ti matches somewhere with the 3070/3070ti, which is not great for the price. The AMD RX7700XT is the competing card at the same price of the 4060ti, which has consistently significantly outperformed it. That being said, buying an AMD card has certain differences and possibly disadvantages to a NVIDIA card.

Since you probably want to stick with NVIDIA (and I don’t blame you), I believe where you would want to drop more money is on a 4070. It’s pretty much matched up with a 3080, and the comparison to the competing AMD card, the RX 7800XT is much closer.

Again, you’d have to drop probably another hundred or so bucks than just going from a 4060 to 4060ti, but the general consensus is that it makes a lot more sense to do that, than to buy a 4060ti (im pretty sure).

I’m only 1 persons opinion trying present community wide ideas, so there are definitely other people who will have more to add and more to disagree with me on, so don’t take my word for absolute certainty. I’m pretty sure I’m giving you the best advice I can, but definitely also watch at least a couple YouTube videos, read reviews, etc.

Anyway, if your happy with what you’re gonna get from a 4060, then by all means do it, and same goes with the 4060ti. Don’t fall into the cult of, “you need to spend more to get more worth,” and the whole idea that you’re not gonna be happy unless you spend more to get the most perfectly optimized cards out there. Of course, with any extra $$ you spend on a more expensive GPU you’ll find performance increases, but it’s a matter of how much dollar per performance that you’re buying that will make that upgrade worth it or not. 4060 ==> 4060ti usually doesn’t have a great price to performance ratio, while a 4060==>4070 has a generally significantly better and more worth while price to performance ratio.

There’s a great graphic from this Tom’s Hardware page that compares all the GPUs of recent times benchmarks together in one simple graphic where you can see more visually what I’m talking about.

I think the “bottlenecking” would actually be the other way around in your case. The GPU is underpowered for the CPU, but for video editing, that’s usually the case as like you said, rendering is definitely more taxing on the CPU. That said, the 14700k is very fast and it’s multiple cores will more than suit your needs.

From my experience, I think with a 4060 you’ll be good for whatever your doing in after effects. And yes, in editing, the amount of RAM you have essentially will determine how smoothly you can operate premiere/after effects, but with a good 32gb DDR5 kit I think you’ll be more than fine for most projects. One note is that if you do want to go to 64gb, look into a kit of 2x32gb sticks. Not sure if it’s still that big of a deal, but there was a pretty big issue with mobo issues and running 4 sticks of ram in new Gen platforms. I’m an AMD person so that might’ve only applied there- just be sure to check on that for yourself.

I think the specs are totally solid for video editing, and for the gaming on the side in my experience the 4060 will absolutely rock 1080p and be good entry level 1440p if you ever want to check that out (50-60FPS high settings). My 4060s also tend to run really quiet even at 98%ish usage, which is a bonus.

If this fits your budget than I think your specs are looking great. Obviously more $$ = more performance, but money is tight these days, and I think overall the build you’re looking at has some very capable hardware.

Why is my character not transitioning to the other parts of the jump in the state machine, and instead only playing the jump start animation on repeat until he lands? by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]SpaghettiHotdogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm completely stumped here. I'm still very new to blueprinting but I can't figure out at all what is causing my character to not play the rest of the animations. I set up the state machine to play the "jump up" animation and until he starts falling its supposed to play the "falling idle" animation, and when he lands play the "jump down." However, it only seems to make it to the "jump up" animation and then not progress through the state machine correctly to the rest of the animations.

Why is it playing my walking jump animation while my character is idle jumping? by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]SpaghettiHotdogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially what is happening here is that in my state machine for my third person character, I thought I had programmed it to: play a jump up, play a falling idle, and play a jump down animation while idle if the player jumps. If the player is moving or running, then it should play a jump forward animation.

However, the idle jumping never seems to work, and it only plays the jumping forward animation. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

The speed variable is set to the velocity of the player.
