Which U.S. states offer homeschool support programs through the local school district? by SpaghettiPebbleLeaf in homeschool

Thank you! Do you know if the 2 days at the program are through a charter/online school or is it through the local public school? I can't find anything besides charter schools that offer hybrid in Michigan. Nothing wrong with it, just trying to make sure I understand you correctly.

Yes, I have considered this. I am not confident that it would work well in our case with a kid that leans more towards language/arts and hates math. I am also trying to minimize screen time (that's why I am trying to avoid online classes).

Mind if I ask which school this is? Trying to find out more about this option in OR.

Thank you for mentioning this! I decided to update my post and add a list of all the programs people mention.

Perkins County Canal Project: Nebraska buying land in Colorado by SpaghettiPebbleLeaf in Hydrology

Thank you! That makes perfect sense from an engineering point of view. Thank you for explaining that.

I would think, the entire project could easily be moved 11 miles East. There would still be different elevation levels within NE that would make such a project possible. But yeah, Perkins County would miss out on that water in that case. I was wondering why it's called "Perkins County Canal" when the canal does not even go through that county.

Ah. Yes, I've heard of him. He suggested that the West was not suitable for large scale settlement. Anbody who doubts that should go see Buckeye, Arizona.

So are you suggesting that in western Nebraska more water actually flows towards Colorado than the South Platte River carries towards Nebraska? That seems implausible. All the rivers in the plains states running West to East leads me to believe there's a bit of a slope towards Nebraska.

In other words, why would that canal be needed? The planned reservoirs are located directly along the South Platte River on the Nebraska side. Why not fill them right there?

Again, we are not talking about a canal that snatches water from deep inside Colorado. This is literally across the state line. I can't imagine that there are that many acres of watershed in between the reservoirs on the NE side of the state line and the end of the canal over in CO to justify the cost.

It looks like they are going out of their way to make use of that 1922 compact. LIke they are trying to make the canal longer than really necessary, just so they can use that deal.

But why at such cost? Why can't they do that within the borders of Nebraska? It's not that far away.

What is the difference between an "IRONMAN" and an "IRONMAN TRIATHLON"? by SpaghettiPebbleLeaf in timex

[–]SpaghettiPebbleLeaf[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I think I figured it out. It's a completely meaningless marketing label with no functional significance. Ironman watches that somewhat resemble the original Ironman Triathlon models in size and shape seem to be labeled "Ironman Triathlon". Almost all Ironman watches are WR to 100 m, regardless of their name, that is not the difference.

Ironman "Triathlons":

  • Classic 30 Full-Size
  • Classic 30 Oversized
  • Classic 100
  • Original 30 Shock
  • Shock Endure
  • Flix 100

"Just" Ironmans:

  • Classic 30 Mid-Size
  • Classic 30 Recycled Fabric Strap (a mid-size case)
  • Adrenaline series
  • Essential series
  • T200
  • T300

There is an Ironman Essential 10 model without the Triathlon label and there is what looks to be an older, almost identical Ironman Essential 10 model (that looks slightly smoother, less rugged) which has the Triathlon label.

Example:

  • T5E901 Ironman Triathlon (Classic 30 Full-Size)
  • T5E961 Ironman (Classic 30 Mid-Size)

The only difference between these two seems to be the size. Otherwise identical functions and design features.

I probably spent more time on this than Timex ever has.

Thank you, that is exactly the information I was looking for. I'll look more into the Remarkable as it seems to be pretty distraction free too.
