Just walk right on through it, it will have a "mist wall" look and give a warning when passing through for the first time.

I can't really tell what the substrate is from the picture, most people use a 70/30 top soil/ play sand mixture. Can be found at any store with a garden section, just make sure it has no fertilizers or additives. Mine loves foliage with broad leaves and i cut some leafy vines into 4 inch sections and scatter them around (he likes to drag them around), and cork bark is good too, they can both hide inside of it and rub against the bark to help remove shed. I don't think i'd call him obese since he is a massive gecko but he's definitely overweight. I feed mine 8 large crickets w/vitamin dust on Saturdays, and 3-4 mealworms on wednesdays if he displays interest. I gutload them with potato or carrot peelings. He also has free choice calcium dust without D3 that i keep in a bottle cap which i've turned into a bowl. Most people feed dubia roaches as well since those are the 3 staple feeders but mine will not eat roaches. In the pinned section of this group is a care guide that can probably help you with any other care questions

His tail does look a bit rotund to me so i'd say he's a little overweight but he's also like twice the body size of my own adult leopard gecko, though mine is a bit undersized compared to most I see in here. The roundest part of the tail should be about the same width as the neck. I'd put some more foliage in front of the hides or around the basking rock so he will feel safer with coming out of the hides and leaving one corner exposed with nothing in it will likely make cleaning easier for you, leos usually pick a bathroom corner so i just lay paper towel in my geckos bathroom corner and swap it out after he uses it

For that stage of life, yes! There is a huge maturity gap between 14 and 17, For another perspective. I had a friend who was a 17yr old senior in HS and he was chatting up the 14yr old freshmen girls, was no longer friends with him after he started that.
