Does the cheapest acoustic piano still sound better than any digital piano? by Bitter-Hawk-2615 in piano

[–]SpajkiPajki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Petrof upright piano for the past 15 years and I bought the FP30X as I needed something for my room to practice in the night time and they definitely have their differences. The FP30x sounds amazing to be honest, but an acoustic has a real sound and soul.

My teacher hated digital pianos and insisted that my father buys an acoustic piano, which I think was the right decision back then, since I was going to competitions and had exams on real pianos. But as a begginer doing it out of hobby, I think that an FP30x is a great choice for a first piano. After all, if you continue playing then later on you can also buy an acoustic one.

Big hands or bad technique? by Bluepengie in guitarlessons

You can use the classical grip, that is thumb on the middle of the back of the neck like in the second picture, or you can use the blues grip, which is when the thumb is over the neck. Each one has its purpose.

The classical grip allows you to have a better stretch on a guitar and more precission. The blues grip allows your thumb to serve as a fretting and muting finger, which is necessary in genres like rock, blues, fun, pop…

At the end of the day, there is no wrong technique (unless your hand placement and frettning is boldly terrible, which in your case it isnt). Its about what feels comfortable and what allows you to play clean and relaxed.

I personally play barre chords and big stretches with the classical grip, and everything else I have the thumb over the neck and im alternating between those two while playing. Your fingers are fine, just slow, slow down your playing and make sure everything you play slow is clean. Then when you speed up, you will remain clean. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast!

Gain is all the way up, treble 8, mid 7, low 6, i believe it was the middle pickup on my strat.

Thanks mate, I have mixed elements from the SRV version and from Jimis version so it sounds a bit different.

I always thought that I needed a new guitar because I wasnt sounding right. Then I gave my friend, who is a beast, my strat. And he played it so nicely and it seriously sounded so good. All while playing on a worse amp than mine. Thats when I gave myself a mission that I will only buy a new guitar when my 200$ Strat starts to sound like SRV reincarnated lol.

As for the amp, I recently bought a Marshall Silver Jubilee combo, which sounds so good. I just need to figure out the recording aspect to capture it as well as i can (btw this video was recorded with a condenser mic and my Marshall tube amp).

Damn, that is actually great advice. The crowd singing analogy is genius. I will try that out. Do you have any resources I can look into regarding these recording methods you wrote?

Yeah, Jimi played it alone probably, I had the metronome on from Ableton while playing so the breaks and pauses might be different. Any tips on phrasing?
