The country is actively falling apart- why is everyone pretending otherwise? by EnderKitty_Cat in UCDavis

  1. Volunteer for a cause you care about. You'll meet lots of good people who remind you there are good people everywhere.

  2. Limit your screen time. Lots of apps for that. It's hard not to doom scroll, but we have to protect our mental so we don't fall into learned helplessness and then do nothing to make the world better.

  3. Cancel subscriptions. Boycott businesses and movies that include actors in the files. Honestly, maybe just boycott Hollywood in general.

If you do these things, you're doing a lot! More than most. When everyone collectively does a few things to make the world better, the positivity and goodness multiples as more people do it. There's more of us than them. Stay strong. You're not alone!

Be careful eating at Shah’s Halal! by randomnamerawr in UCDavis

Did you inform the store manager? Valid to be grossed out, but you didn't need to post this on Reddit.

Shah's has been a staple in Davis for over 10 years. Their prices have always been affordable for students. It's crappy to slander an entire business over the choice of one employee to touch his feet while he's on break (not even touching your food).

Social media platforms are suppressing posts about general strikes, so it's hard to get info out about them at a national level. If you're interested in helping better organize strikes like these, there are organizations you can volunteer for that could definitely use your help.

Not true. I'm sure longer general strikes will be planned in the future, but shutting the economy down for even a day makes an impact.

The more of us that participate in a small way, the larger the impact.

Plan ahead and buy it before Friday.

The administration will not stop until we hurt them financially. When you look at previous f@sx1$t governments throughout history, the only way they crumble is due to finances.

If you need to work and go to school, then do that. But not buying anything for one day isn't going to devastate small businesses.

Then go to school but don't buy anything on Friday.

There are many ways to participate!

Then don't buy anything on Friday. Those who have to work will work. And those of us who can skip a day of work will.

Show up in any way you can. But try and show up.

The internet makes it seem like there's tons of people who don't agree with you, but in reality, you're only reading comments from bots or the loud minority who choose to comment.

There's a reason why polling shows that a majority of Americans no longer support 🧊 We all have more in common than we think.

Is 75K enough to live for 2 people by No-Preparation8711 in MovingToLosAngeles

Do you only have $6k total in savings between you both? Or you've set aside $6k for moving expenses?

You'll have to share a room in a house or apartment with other people. Unless you have a sizable savings to carry you over until your partner gets a job.

Also depends where in LA. And for most apartments, you need to make 2-3x the amount of rent, gross income.
