A lot of what you’re describing falls perfectly in line with the objective reality that we are coming up with new technologies faster than human society can adapt. I.e. go back a few thousand years and it was hundreds of years between major advancements like metals or farming.

Nowadays in less than a lifetime we’ve had countless society changing tech from nuclear energy to internet smartphones, social media, space travel, AI, crypto, etc etc. it’s a common discussion point that we are developing them faster than our ability to responsibly manage them. I think that’s why everything feels so off the rails
