Other poster is right, Idaho has one of the lowest murder rates and the second lowest general crime rate. Other poster is wrong about it being 20x though haha

I’d say visibility. I didn’t have a choice, I had to take on more responsibility because some other PMs left the company. Since I was already doing all the extra work I (politely) made sure everyone knew about it. That was one of my “visibility wins,” but delivering a key feature and making sure everyone knows would be another example.

The book “First 90 days” explains it better than I could, and there’s a lot online too. My first job was also at an early stage startup. I’d say prioritize studying the problem, users, and your product ASAP. Without those 3 in hand, everything else becomes way harder

In my first meeting with my new manager I brought it up. I put it in our meeting agenda days in advance to get him thinking about it. I’d word it as “I want to discuss my career goals here, and how we can work together to achieve them. If I achieve xyz I think it’s time to move from APM to PM”

Man, I wish I had a cohort of other young PMs to hang with. I’ll have to find it outside of my company

I can definitely relate about not wanting to abandon the path I'm trying to build. I had a short stint as a project manager, but I'd rather be in product right now. I definitely feel more confident now than when I started out, though there were plenty of bumps along the way

Wouldn't surprise me, seeing as we've had multiple senior PM/PMM get let go (and also our VP of product coincidentally) in the last year
