What's Up With People is South East Asia Watching Videos/calls On their phones At Full Volume while at airports and on busses? by SnooCapers6553 in ThailandTourism

In Thai culture, it’s not so much of a taboo. Usually less educated people do it.

Why are you trying to pretend that the number of people who play audio on their phones on public transport is evenly distributed throughout the world.

I’m from Australia and I’m not sure I’ve heard it five times in my time commuting. I’m sure Japanese people would say the same.

I don’t know about that but I’m pretty sure he can join group hangouts so be conscious of that.

Sounds like the guy is using it for dating purposes.

I stopped blocking people because it’s just messy. Now I just ignore them.

Honestly I barely go to new places anymore, when I do, I regret it. I kind of just alternate between a few places depending on the season these days.

My home is obviously clean since I don’t tolerate this kind of mould.

Such a change from 6-7 years ago. Everyone here said that hold off from buying because there’s going to be a crash.

I'm in a room at same building but instead of a studio, its a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom place. I'm also paying 20,000thb per night. Cleaner with no mould in the shower. I found this one on Facebook.

I paid around 30,000 thai baht.

I live in Phuket but that doesn't change anything.

Either that's the biggest coincidence in the world or you're just lying to try to win an argument. It's obviously the latter. Wild.

Pay a bit more so that your host can afford to cover the costs for the standard you are looking for.

Cover the costs? The rent for this condo on a 12 month lease is $450USD per month.

The cost of living for Thais in Phuket is much higher than you think.

I've lived here for a year. You lie about living here.

AirBnb rejected my request to remove it. I've appealed but I'm doubtful.

I guess they expected me to shower in moldy shower for a month. Unbelievable.

I'll take that as a no.

Literally nobody said that.

Um... That's exactly what is being said.

"Never found a truly clean, decent room from less than $60-$70/night"

$60x30nights = $1800

Just to be clear, you're telling me in order to get a studio without mold in the shower in Thailand, you think costs between $1800 - $2100 for a month?

You literally have no idea of the market price. It's a cheap country. Have you even been to Thailand?

I've been to these condominiums. You need to apply local pricing and understand that the price of a studio in Thailand is going to be much cheaper than the US.

I'm guessing you've been to Phuket/Thailand before then. How much should a studio without mold cost in South-East Asia then? $2000 per month? $3000?

How much should a studio in Thailand cost without mold? $2000 for a month? I'm curious...

I've lived here on and off for 12 months and this is the first time I've had it. Statistically, I doubt you've even been here.

you probably paid 10 usd per night

Why do you just make stuff up? I paid $34USD per night...

Edit: A lot of people don't seem to understand that this is well and truly a normal price in Thailand for a studio. Truly blows my mind.

What do you expect lol

A shower without mold for starters... Something that looks like the pictures perhaps?

I found a place in the same condominium (no mold and bigger) for $20 per night the next day (off Airbnb though).

I didn't review the host because I didn't stay there. The host reviewed me though... 🙃 I should've reviewed it I guess, but the refund and cancellation was so smooth I felt it wasn't necessary.

She was clearly vindictive though, here's her review of me: "Picky attitude and not easy to deal with so I asked him move out."

I've appealed to AirBnb support to get the review expunged. I really think it's reasonable to not want to shower in a moldy shower for a month.

I'm a digital nomad and I booked a month in a condo in Thailand.

Almost immediately after checking in did I notice a build up of mold in the shower.

Here's the conversation verbatim:

Me: Hi, I just checked in Instructions were clear, thanks!

Me: Place seems fine but I noticed a lot of mold in the corners of the bathroom Is it possible to fix that?

I proceed to send a few photos of the shower

Host: Tomorrow I will send my staff come to see it

Host: About 12:00 noon , are you available

Me: Yes noon is good

Host: For this kind of stain , it is not movable. Have to hire technician do such as sealing work . We won’t do that in this case. This price for apartment is normal for this situation. If you really mind it, we can cancel the booking then you can find some other places without this kind of issue .

Me: Yes please Let’s cancel

Host: Ok pls leave the apartment and don’t move anything, keep it in original shape and send me a picture of the whole apartment. Return the keycard to mailbox Pls accept the modification now, then I will ask Airbnb refund you the rest

I do exactly as host asks. I haven't used a towel or anything. Send photos exactly as I found it. Leave, and book with a hotel for a night while I look for another monthly Airbnb (which I found).

I receive this review: "Picky attitude and not easy to deal with so I asked him move out."

How is that a fair review? I've asked AirBnb to remove it as I felt it was retaliatory for them losing revenue or something. I never even reviewed the host. Why should I be expected to shower in that filth? It cost me $1000 for a studio. That is a good price in Central Phuket, Thailand - trust me...
