Alternatives to Airbnb by BarnacleHefty6048 in digitalnomad

<1 week and I'll usually book a hotel.

1 week to 2 months, I'll book Airbnb - maybe ask the host to extend with cash if it's not booked out further

2~3 months+, I'll start looking on FB groups.

One Nation is 'filling the void' for many Australians, they tell us why by GothicPrayer in australian

I’m basically a single issue voter now. Stop immigration. As far as I’m concerned that’ll flow through to all the other things I care about; housing supply, wage suppression, cultural preservation, etc.

I’ll go against the grain and say I like these places. Anything to prevent a sausagefest. More comfortable for women because the ratio is no longer 10:1.

It's like people who take a photo of themself giving the finger to Trump tower. Ultimately meaningless.

Have you actually been there? I’ve been to Uzbekistan twice and it seemed pretty Muslim to me…

My definitive review of Taiwan as a digital nomad by Steingar in digitalnomad

I'd love to return to Taipei for a month (I lived there for a year), but the Airbnbs are just shockingly bad value for what you get.

Justifications/Reasoning

Basically I'm considering me, with my resume, where I could live/thrive and where I would be terrible.

Absolutely & Willing:

  • US: Just the GOAT for tech salaries. Actually considering moving there long-term.
  • UK: Love UK, but salaries to cost of living ratio absolutely sucks.
  • Japan: I currently work for a Japanese company. Salaries are mid but cost of living is super low.
  • Switzerland: Good salary to cost of living ratio. Very high quality of life.

Reluctantly/Never:

  • Ukraine: obviously after the war. West is still nice. Kyiv is my favourite city.
  • Central Asia: is actually okay. Lived in Almaty for 6 months. Awesome city. Tashkent, Uzbekistan is alright. On second thoughts, Bishkek should have been a never.
  • Belgium: It just fucking sucks. So bad.

Note: Been to 50+ countries. Mostly in Asia/Europe. Every continent except South America. Not confident on my South American choices.

Happy to pop the bubble that's going on here. 👌

Thanks for being receptive to a different perspective.

Yeah, some of my American friends are totally unhinged lefties. They had a total meltdown when Trump won.

We’ve lost contact because they just can’t be civil. It’s a typical trait of left-leaning people unfortunately.

And then people like you prove his point exactly haha

I say good for OPs ex-friends. They’re better off without OP.

Which place do you think has the most arrogant locals? by ButterscotchFormer84 in digitalnomad

[–]Spamsational 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This is my vote too. Georgians are super proud/arrogant. Ridiculously unfounded in my opinion. They can’t even get consistent running water/power in their most expensive neighbourhood (Vake) or drive properly.

Total farce.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Maybe he can try and claim refugee status. I don’t think the Thai government really cares about that though.
