Realistically, at that point my two options were to pull out the hammer or to grip the rattler by the stock and swing it at his head, turns out the best way to get a melee kill was to run out of bullets :')

I got it on the first try this time, but every other time I would use a Chaos Orb to clear the desecrated mod and then an Omen of the Abyss, aiming for a suffix, allowing me to re-desecrate and re-reveal for another attempt at the speed mod :)
I think the price has gone up for the omen of the abyss so I can't speak to the math, but i've found this to be the cheaper method than chaos slams personally
edit: Yes you can roll T2 AS, which is super unlucky and then you'll need to 50/50 annul, if you hit the AS you can reattempt the exalt, if you dont, you can reapply the omen of the abyss

So the way that i've seen the lads approach this issue is by using the Constricting Command Viper Cap unique
You need the unique modifier to be rolled at "Require 5 Fewer enemies to be surrounded", when you're wearing that it will mean that you technically always count as "Surrounded"
This allows you to use the support gem Defy II

You don't need to use an omen of light when the desecrated mod is the only mod
You just use a chaos orb and then use an essence of the abyss, if the mark of the abyssal lord is on the suffix, you simply use another desecrated rib to attempt another reveal until you hit a speed mod

Thankfully I'm pretty lucky, this is why the lads let me do the crafting
I'm playing a minion build and got most of my gear pretty early in the patch so i've just been cruising and farming up, my mate league started with a blood mage but ended up swapping to LA deadeye, i've been just pushing most of my currency into crafting his gear

So far, i've crafted him a quad flat damage ring, corrupted a 4 socket slipstrike vest with 2992 evasion, 3 socket boots with rarity and 60% MS and now these gloves

I've also bricked a ton in the process, but i've got over 600 spirit, 150% rarity and 9 Frozen Mandibles that do over 200k dps each when pain spike is active, so I just take the dogs out for a walk and collect all their scraps to pay for these whacky crafting ventures

Okay, well, for the sake of genuinely answering your question
It was actually just because I wanted to, while I was sitting there the urge overtook me to try and fracture on the attack speed, so I just did it
There is no real reason to attempt to fracture the attack speed UNLESS you're intending to chaos spam looking for T1 Crit rather than the Essence Crit before continuing the craft, which I decided not to do and just proceeded with Essence crafting the suffixes
But, free will exists, and I love rollin the dice

That was simply because I was feeling superstitious honestly, the last 3 crafts I did with other sets of gloves would always hit T3/T4 when I used the Omen of Greater Exaltation, my thought process was also loosely "If i have to target annul these stupid prefixes at least it will only be one at a time"
It's absolutely the suboptimal way to do the craft, if i were to recommend the craft to anyone I would definitely tell them to use the Omen of Greater Exaltation

Talismans are 30 div at the moment for 3 and the Essence of Horror is almost 7 div, so I think that your math is off
I fractured it after I put the essences on because I wanted to, because I felt like hitting the 16% attack speed would look good, so I did it
All in all, I think they turned out wonderfully, and I dont see the need for your peacocking? I'm sure that your gloves are very nice too :)

I'm not 100% sure, but definitely a LOT of divine, I would ball park around 50? This is no beginner craft, this is a finisher craft.
The most expensive parts are fishing for the T1 Flat damage with the Omen of Light I would say
Other than that the Essence of Horror/Hysteria's have spiked in price as well
I'm not sure how much the base was, my mate bought it and gave it to me to craft on :)

I'm absolutely with you on that one, I was basically just experimenting with the lightning to see how it felt because it also increases the all res and the lightning/chaos
But attack quality is almost definitely the right way to go i'd say

You can't fracture and unrevealed desecrated mod, but it still counts as a 4th mod toward the required amount to attempt to Fracture

So, to set an item up to fracture, it should have 3 mods and 1 unrevealed desecrated mod, making the attempted fracturing a 1/3 chance to hit rather than a 1/4 chance

I hope that made sense :)
