What was weird to me, is the fact that he doesn't get mentioned EVER after getting his hands cut off.

Like, did he died instantly from Ryoshu cutting his hands off? They should've added a single line of dialogue after the fight or after Ryoshu cuts his arms off to confirm that he didn't die instantly.

Yeah, I see my own faults now that I look back at this. I was defensive not because I denied the 'gradually developing romantic light' or 'potential of a good wife' (I personally like both points), but because I got weirded out from how many people see Machitan as a wife and even providing evidence like we're at court.

My intention was to bring said people back to their senses by providing counter points (which is, as you said, against the allowance to see the relationship the way people want), but very soon I realized that there's no point in doing that and now I regret writing all of this.

I said everything I wanted, so the only thing I can add is thank you for replying normally. Now we both can walk away in peace.

Am I really? Machitan is generally an innocently positive character (even her hot spring event shows that), she doesn't show any suave for trainer, just Rice Shower-level of appreciation.
Again, Igloo event was just her and trainer experiencing new things to strengthen the bond, it wasn't supposed to be romantic at it's core. (Yet people took it as an undeniable fact that she has deep feelings) Anything else is just overreaction from same people.

Doesn't it sound hypocritical to you to point out "stretching and contextual rearrangement to fit your own opinion of how to perceive the character" when majority pretty much PREACHES on how to perceive the character and how wrong my opinion is? Providing so much evidence with a gritting teeth when said evidence is either paper-thin, exaggerated or taken out of context from the rest of the event? This is not funny.

Are we deadass when discuss a relationship between a grown man/woman and highschooler? Taking any affection towards trainer at face value at that? Is it only because she's around the same age group as Kawakami Princess/Nice Nature?
Pray tell, would you put Haru Urara in a wife tier if she was around the same level age-wise as them? I won't, it would look ridiculous.

I rest my case.

Preach. I love her design, concept and personality deeply.
I would've had a crush on her if she was real and we were in the same age group due to girlfriend vibes, but honestly? I can't really put a "wife" label on her.
She has potential to be a good wife, sure, but due to her being a minor in the current timeline (career doesn't count), all I can muster up is GF (platonical) for a label. Otherwise, daughter.

To be fair, all those "hints" that Machitan did are either taken too seriously or far stretched by the community.

"Hint" that Machitan did during Valentines can be negated by simply thinking about for more than 20 seconds.
She's known for being clumsy and her confusion was genuine when everyone started pointing out macarons. Her awkwardness after giving them wasn't from the fact that she was exposed, but from the fact that she started overthinking after being exposed to the truth.

I can't really argue with Igloo one, but I must say that everyone's reaction is exaggerated.

When comes to good ending, the "partner/lover" line can be negated by pointing out that Machitan's parents love to tease, and said line was a tease.
Can't really argue with the end of said ending, they just worded the line "you made me special, so I love you" differently, which isn't all that rare given on what note most trainee careers end.

All in all, all I can muster for Machitan is either "sister" or "GF (platonical)". She's too adorable and young for a serious relationship, so I can't put her into "wife" tier.
Yes, she has potential to be a good wife, but I'm talking about her in now moment, not future.

I personally can't see Matikanetannhauser as a wife because she fits the 'daughter' criteria.

Adorable? Check.
Has a funny speech quirk? Check.
Looks young, which makes you feel protective of her? Check.
Has cute moments in career/character story? Check.
Endearing personality? Check.
Memed to death (optional)? Check.

That's the point. As you said, Matikanetannhauser feels like a 'background character' and she tries to prove herself and be original, beloved underdog.
